About Me

My name is Misha, I'm 16 years old and have been playing guitar for about five years. For school, I once had to teach a first-year high school music lesson to show them what I'd learned. I found it surprisingly enjoyable—especially sharing my own enthusiasm with others.

After that, I started giving guitar lessons to people in my music class, helping them prepare for a school concert. That went really well, and it really made me want to help more people who are just starting to play guitar.

Education

No formal training. I took private guitar lessons for two and a half years and have been taking music lessons at Gerrit Rietveld College for five years, where I primarily learn theory. I also learned theory on my own from books and online courses.

My name is Panagiotis and I am a guitar teacher/player. I have two bachelor degrees: Classical Guitar (Philippos Nakas Conservatory), Jazz&Pop Guitar (HKU Utrecht Conservatory). I have been teaching in music schools and giving individual lessons for the last 14 years. In 2017 I moved to Utrecht to continue my studies in jazz guitar at the Utrecht Conservatory and explore the Dutch music scene.I teach electric, acoustic, classical guitar and music theory. Besides the basic technique and theory knowledge, which Ι make sure to provide to each of my students , I individually prepare their study line, according to their taste and abilities. My goal is to help my students to find their own musicality and reveal their inner voice by giving them the most appropriate tools. The way I teach actually depends entirely on the student. The way I explain the concepts, plan and structure the lessons and approach each subject all depends on whether the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced, and whether he or she has some experience on the subject.

I myself have played in several bands and also been a part of a band that has opened for famous artists such as God is am astronaut, karnivool, etc.

I have a simple funda: practice! Playing the guitar is a physical skill, I aim to give you enough practice to master this. The practice doesnt have to be boring! Every class you learn a little but of theory and a song to compensate for the theory ;) (except for the first class where you aren't allowed to touch the guitar).

I personalize the class plan per student based on their learning needs. Minimum ‘boring’ theory if you know you're a hobbyist! And lots of theory for the nerdy music lovers!

I want to base my lessons on playing the guitar and related instruments in a way that feels mastered and personal.

I therefore want to focus on expression, technique and the aurally malleable nature of the instrument, for example by discussing extended techniques and the use of effect pedals. I want to invite the students to learn to listen carefully to the impact of different playing techniques and audio effects.

During the lessons I want to cover different kinds of music theory, especially in an "applied" way that is valuable to the student. I also want to deal with recording and producing my own work.

Owning your own effects pedals, a guitar amplifier or recording equipment is not required for this course.

I currently study guitar at the Utrecht Conservatorium, specialised in electric guitar.   I am competent to teach basic guitar skills to beginners. I have experience in both teaching kids and adults. I speak Russian and English languages fluently, can give basic instructions in Greek too.

Hello there! My name is Vasilis and I am a jazz/rock/eastern traditional and classical guitar player, singer and songwriter currently studying as a 3rd year student in the Jazz and Pop guitar department of HKU conservatory. I am coming from Greece where I graduated from my first bachelor on classical guitar and the last three years I live, study, work and play in Utrecht.

My teaching career started very early, 12 years ago when my classical guitar teacher let me teach my first student and since then I have worked in multiple music schools and in private lessons with students of every age. This year I also started giving my first band coaching group lessons.

In my lessons I try to create a learning path that is formed arround the interests and taste of each student. Since I am a singer and songwriter the lessons can also focus on the creating part of music if of course the student is interested in that. I work with empathy and sensitivity arround the needs of each student.

As for my playing career, I play with multiple bands on original songs of mine or covers in different venues and festivals in Europe. The genres differ between pop, jazz, rock, eastern traditional and blues so I can give a big variety of stylistic directions to each student.

Last but not least, I am also a singer and because of my good performance in school, I was awarded from the HKU Conservatory the oportunity to follow the vocal curriculum of the school as well. So I can help you with singing too!

I love teaching guitar, and I am good at it. Learning music is similar to learning a language. We learn by imitating the sounds that we hear. During this stage, I also incorporate proper technique; how the instrument should be held and how the strings should be strummed or plucked. Once the sound is adequately imitated, we look at influences and start developing vocabulary. Finally, I want to ensure the student can replicate these precise sounds. I do this by teaching the theory and reasoning behind the vocabulary.
