About Me

I'm fluent in English and Turkish with knowledge of basic Korean. I have been teaching English as a second language for the past four years. I taught English in South Korea for 3 years and taught English in Turkey for one year.
I try to ensure that my students are having a fun time while learning and focus on the student's needs.

All my education took place in the UK.
The University of Hertfordshire (Film major - 3.4 GPA).
CELTA certified - I received my CELTA in 2015, at British Side in Istanbul and received a pass B.

I have also taught children aged 4-17, I have taught classes filled with 20 five-year-olds as well as classed with 3 six-year-olds. I have a range of experience with ages and class groups.

I am specialized in teaching English to adults and students in international and private schools.

For adults, this class offers a general English practice or IELTS test preparation depending on what the student is looking for. The lessons will first start by evaluating their abilities in the four main skills (Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading) then we can work together to plan the weekly lessons accordingly.

As for the school pupils, the student shall present his/her previous test papers and results to identify his/her weaknesses and strengths. The second step is to follow the school's book(s) and curriculum (unless the parents wish otherwise). The classes consists of test revision, homework assistance and lots of practice.

Any communication occurring during the class must be in English.
The class usually consists of one student.

Hi, I am Hatice from Istanbul.

I HAVE BEEN TEACHİNG ONLINE AND FACE TO FACE FOR 25 YEARS.
I am a native speaker of Turkish and was born in Istanbul.

I have been teaching Turkish to foreigners and I have taught hundreds of students from all ages and professions for more than 20 years. I am a professional English teacher but I like teaching Turkish more as it is my mother tongue and it is a great pleasure for me to share its secrets and beauty.

While teaching I also love giving some useful information about the culture, people, cuisine, films and literature in Turkey to help you get connected to Turkish culture. I prepare written and verbal dialogues in the areas the student is interested in.

I am from Istanbul but I traveled almost all cities, mountains, rivers, lakes in Turkey. I am a person who likes less traveled roads and back streets. Traveling around the world and reading on the areas of spirituality, philosophy, psychology, and literature are my number one hobbies. I lived and worked in London, Toronto, and S. Korea. Living as an expat and learning several languages have helped me having sympathy with my students. Motivation, feeling relaxed and setting realistic targets, in the beginning, are usually the first thing to go.

As for my formal education, I studied Economics, International Relations, Western Philosophy, and American language and literature at the university (MA and BA). And after my 40 years old, I learned classical Arabic and Persian and started to study Islamic spirituality at the doctorate level. I taught English at Prep. school at Istanbul Technical University and Yeditepe University and am retired. Ever since I could remember I have been a teacher. Now I only teach Turkish privately and translate classical novels from English to Turkish. I translated 12 books from English to Turkish.

I teach Turkish that is tailored for each student. Each student is unique for me and I know that every student has her/his own way of learning.
If you are a beginner I give a short lecture about the history of Turkish and its characteristics and help you find your way in this very logical, consistent and elegant language. You understand that Turkish is different but that does not necessarily mean difficulty.
From the first lesson, you start speaking Turkish and find yourself in a dialogue.

I use several books using a grammar-based approach integrated with communicative methods to boost the development of all language skills. But we always focus on TALK, TALK, TALK. As a language learner for many years, I know one can learn, improve and take pleasure in a foreign language only by talking and communicating. It is essential to get direct pleasure from what you have learned. My aim is to motivate and inspire you to speak Turkish ignoring minor mistakes and without thinking grammar.

I try to keep in contact with my students almost every day through whatsapp and email. And start some short dialogues.

Hi everyone! I’m presently a student of Genetics and Bioengineering in Istanbul Bilgi University. As majority universities are leaning towards English as the primary source of instruction in Istanbul, I feel it is important to have full command over the language. After graduating from high school, I went to Egypt for language education and studied Arabic for 8 months. Then, when my application for undergraduate education in Saudi Arabia was accepted, I started my education life in Saudi Arabia. During this time, I graduated from the three-year language institute at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with an 81 degree. Then, I completed my four-year undergraduate education at the university where I studied. Due to the pandemic, I continue my Master's education via distance education at the university where I graduated. I have native level reading, writing and speaking skills, especially in fasih Arabic.

I have a certificate of oath as an Arabic sworn translator from more than ten notaries. I also serve as a Judicial Translator at the Istanbul Courthouse.

For a long time, I have been giving private lessons to expatriate families and people from Turkey, especially the children of expatriate families, who want to learn Arabic. In addition, I serve as a sworn translator in many notaries.

I can guarantee that someone who does not even know Arabic letters will be able to read and partially write Arabic letters in as little as 6 lessons, provided that the homework I give is done.

Due to the pandemic, I teach my lessons online using a graphic tablet designed for private lessons and graphic drawings, so the lessons take place in a classroom environment. When learning any language, beginner level students should learn it in the correct order and important details should be explained well by practising previous ones. Students at more advanced levels, such as A2, B1 or above, also need to practice their skills at the previous level thoroughly to improve their language skills. I try to provide good teaching by paying attention to these important points in my lessons. I keep our lessons' notes in a word file.
