Drum lessons with qualified and experienced teacher - all styles, all levels
Hello! My name is Aurel and I am a French Amsterdam-based drummer.
Although currently specialized in Jazz music, I have studied various esthetics, and Pop and Rock music, in particular, are part of my background (I played in several pop-rock bands). Therefore I am able to teach a broad panel of music styles. I also have many drum methods and charts at my disposal, and have experience in teaching children from the age of 6, as well as teenagers and adults.
Lessons and teaching method:
I always adapt to the student's tastes and learning profiles. This is why, during the first lesson, and on a regular basis afterwards, I always take time to discuss with my students (or their parents if they are very young) to figure out together the path they want or need to follow. I will use charts and methods for those who need visual support to assimilate the skills or teach by ear and by demonstrating to the ones who feel more comfortable this way. I also play electric guitar and can jam with my students, which is a great tool for developing band playing skills or simply to have a good time.
For those eager to make significant progress, I offer consistent and serious monitoring, with practice recommendations. I can for instance prepare a student for an audition or an entrance exam in a conservatory. If you are willing to improve your understanding of rhythm in general, you can also benefit from my knowledge of Indian Karnatic rhythm concepts, one of the most complete traditional approaches to rhythm.
Students who simply want to learn at their pace, to have fun and unwind, are definitely welcome too!
About me:
In addition to my jazz drums bachelor and master degrees from the conservatory of Amsterdam (CvA), which included a thorough pedagogical training and a specialization in Indian Karnatic techniques, I benefit from 4 years of experience as an employed drum teacher in two French associative music schools (Ecole de musique de Nangis and Conservatoire des Deux Rives, Moret-sur-Loing).
I am also an active musician, both on the Dutch and the French scene. My trio mainly tours in France and has played at venues such as the Sunside (Paris), or participated in competitions like the Keep An Eye International Jazz Award. I am also the co-leader of the sextet Chai Masters, finalist of several European competitions (Leiden Jazz Award, Golden Jazz Trophy in Lille, France, 7 Virtual Jazz Contest). Recently, the band was part of Keep An Eye The Records's finalists (March 2022).
Looking forward to meeting you and passing on my know-how to you!

About Me
I come from a small village, in the middle of French countryside. Fascinated by an old drumkit gathering dust in my uncle's house, and nourished by my parent's record and vinyl collection, I ended up taking drum and solfege lessons in the local music school. Coming from a non-professional musician family, I had to work my way up to enter the music middle, undertaking a journey that led me to live in Paris, Bruxelles, Philadelphia (US) and eventually Amsterdam. As a result, I can remember every step of my musical development very well. I moreover take advantage of this peculiarity in my pedagogy, either to clearly explain the subjects I intend to teach, or to precisely figure out the strengths, weaknesses and needs of a student. This ability was strengthened by a four-year experience as a teacher in associative music schools, with very diverse students ranging from five to forty years old.

My son is happy to keep playing drums with Aurel
Aurel is a fantastic teacher who puts your motivation center stage. As a complete beginner, I was able to quickly pick up playing, thanks to the way his lessons build up on one another. There's never a dull moment, he is clearly passionate about both drumming and teaching. Never before have I enjoyed learning an instrument this much. A big thank you Aurel!
Aurel is very patient and nice with young kids. My son is 6 years old and he likes to go to Aurel's lessons and he has learned a lot! The most important thing is that my kid really enjoys playing and learning. Thanks again!
Aurel is great. He was trying to put himself in my shoes and think of why something was not working. While he was giving his feedback, he was sharing it in a very clear and supportive way.
He also discussed with me what my goals are, he asked for samples of music and adjusted the class accordingly.
He also very kindly offered me his old sticks and taught longer that he should’ve.
Oh and he’s a fantastic drummer with very successful projects.
I’m very happy to be taking classes from him.

Ischico
High-level piano lessons by an experienced concert pianist/piano teacher
Hey! My name is Ischico and I am a concert pianist and piano teacher. With my ten years of teaching experience, I am happy to help you further with your piano skills.
I think it is important that the piano lesson is motivating. Topics that are regularly covered in the lessons are technique, musicality, interpretation, ear training, improvisation and much more. I teach piano in my piano studio at the NDSM-Werf.
Every student is different and that is why I create a tailor-made lesson plan for each student. Having fun playing is very important. When a student has fun playing, he or she progresses the fastest. I would like to welcome you for a trial lesson to discuss your wishes.
I did two master's degrees at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and at Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona. Besides teaching, I regularly give concerts and organize other musical projects.

Translating the music from your head to your guitar! AMSTERDAM/ARNHEM Gitaarles
My name is Piotr, I am 31 and come from Poland. I've studied guitar first at the University of Arts in Graz, Austria and then did my master degree at Conservatorium van Amsterdam (jazz guitar).
I can describe my approach to music best by paraphrasing a great composer and arranger Michael Gibbs: 'What most people want to hear is music that is very simple, but played extremely well'. In music there is a very thin line between what's easy and hard, what's simple and complex. If you like the idea I can help you navigate through the universe of music you like or hear regardless of the genre or your level of advancement.
Here are the examples of problems I can help you solve:
– arranging songs you like on the guitar,
– improving technique by playing music you like,
– working on your music,
– upgrading the campfire chops,
– composing indie lines and sounds, talking about pedals,
– learning to improvise,
– learning music theory,
– learning jazz standards,
– basics of recording, making demos and backing tracks,
– using notation software (Sibelius).
But I am more than open to follow your lead!

Saxophone lessons (Jazz and Classical) - Improvisation - Music Theory (All levels)
My teaching method is flexible and always aimed at the needs of the student.
As well as the instrument technique I would suggest an in-depth study in ear training, theory music and repertoire. The lesson is about teaching by involving the student in a fun and well outlined path, without forgetting the joy of learning and making music.
I've being teaching saxophone, improvisation, theory music and clarinet (for beginners) for all ages and abilities for almost 10 years now and, depending on which path the student is looking for, I will be thrilled to share and pass on the knowledge I have acquired throughout my teaching and artistic career.

Trumpet, Improvisation & Music Theory Lessons (Beginner and Intermediate)
Did you ever hear a tune and you felt like you wanted to just play over it? Did you ever feel like you’d like to discover what makes a tune that special? I can help you to understand how music works and what makes it such an incredible art form!
Listening to what you want and need, I can make a tailored plan with you on what you’d like to learn and get you going in the instrument and in your theory. Whether you’re a complete beginner of picking back the trumpet we can work together and make this journey as fun as possible.
I teach Trumpet in the multiple styles that you might have come across - being jazz, salsa, disco, pop or funk. In case you’d like to learn more about how to improvise on the trumpet we can also tackle that and get you going, all while having fun! I teach all ages and from absolute beginner to Intermediate players.
I speak English, Portuguese, Spanish, and I’m also taking my steps into learning Dutch, even though music is such a universal language. I live in Amsterdam and you can learn at my studio in NDSM, or I can come and meet where you are! It is also possible to arrange lessons in the center of Amsterdam, close to Centraal Station.
About me? I’m Luso-american musician who moved to Amsterdam to study jazz trumpet at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where I’m currently finishing my bachelor degree. I started playing the trumpet when I was 9 years old, and since then my passion for music just kept on growing bigger. My main focus as a jazz musician was big band playing, where I’m specialised in lead trumpet playing, however I kept myself open to different styles being part of Afrobeat bands, playing in small formations, such as trios or just playing some groovin’ music from Earth Wind & Fire or Kool & The Gang.
