We can start a journey together and find a fun, fulfilling way to learn guitar that’s tailored to your needs. What I Offer: Personalized lessons to suit individual goals Flexible scheduling A variety of genres to explore About Me: I'm from India and moved to Basel to pursue my Bachelor’s in Jazz. I've always had a passion for teaching, and now I’m studying for my Master’s in Pedagogy at Jazzcampus. I’ve performed on stage for many years, learned instruments from different cultures, and taught in an institution both online and in-person. As a freelancer over the past 7 years, I’ve had the chance to teach a wide range of students. Teaching methodology: My goal as a teacher is always to understand the individual needs of each student from multiple perspectives and to build a curriculum that works for them. I strive to recognize the student's relationship with music and gauge how deeply they wish to explore different topics. Additionally, it is important for me to consider the cultural aspect of teaching, as I have worked with both students and teachers from diverse backgrounds. Another key element of my teaching approach is gathering feedback from students, learning from them, and understanding how I can support their growth. Fortunately, I have been surrounded by other teachers with whom I regularly exchange ideas and methods to benefit both myself and my students. I am always interested in meeting new people and exchanging ideas, and always look forward to starting a new journey with each student. I offer lessons in English, German, and Hindi.

Why not learn learn two things at once? I offer guitar tutoring IN English! Why Guitar AND English? There is a growing body of research that promotes the benefits of combining musical practice with learning a language. Playing an instrument develops the brain's ability to process sounds and rhythm, improves memory through the retention of chords, notes and lyrics, and requires discipline and motivation to keep going. All of these support language learning. Why me? I am a qualified CELTA English teacher with 15 years experience in education, as well as a lifetime of playing guitar. I have performed live in bands and community groups, and delivered guitar and music therapy sessions throughout my career. What Will You Learn? I will build a programme around your musical goals and your favourite artists and styles so that the lessons are as fun and enjoyable for you as possible. Depending on your musical goals and ability, the lessons range from very the basics of how to look after and maintain your instrument, through to playing some of your favourite songs and melodies. I can cover useful playing techniques, warm up exercises and alternative ways to tune your instrument, as well as how to read and understand tablature. For those looking to advance their playing, we can work towards keys, scales and solos, or how to play in a variety of musical styles. By teaching in English, I will help you to build your vocabulary, pronunciation, and confidence in speaking the language, all while learning how to play your favourite songs in a fun and relaxing environment. If you're interested in guitar and building your English skills, get in touch!

What will we learn? My classes are designed for students of all levels: from those who want to seriously delve into their instrument, studying technique, harmony, theory, and reading at a professional level, to those who simply want to improve their knowledge of the instrument they play in their free time. I pay special attention to beginners, regardless of age, ensuring proper finger placement on the instrument, whether it's electric, acoustic, or classical guitar. And... online learning? Yes, it's possible! All you need is a good internet connection and a webcam with a decent microphone (I can help you choose one if you need it). Throughout the classes, I'll share materials and exercises via email, and you can record your practice sessions and send me the videos so I can review them before the class. The pandemic has forced us to find efficient solutions to keep going, and luckily, online music instruction works. And... if you'd like to learn more about the program and how we can adapt it to your needs, just write to me and we can discuss it. I believe that classes should be adapted to the students' interests, level, and time availability, so that they are enjoyable, stress-free, and progressive. Throughout my 25 years of teaching, I have successfully developed what I consider a program of "essential" knowledge for a serious, contemporary musician. My students say about me... Bxxxxxxxx Matteo is a highly qualified teacher who adapts perfectly to the student's style and level. The classes are varied and enjoyable, with a very friendly and trustworthy approach. Good teacher, good person. I recommend him 100%. Pxxxxxxxx He is the teacher I have been looking for for years. He quickly understood what I wanted to learn, and his teaching methods go far beyond what I expected. He always explains things in a way I can understand, chooses pieces to work on that are both enjoyable and focus on where I need to practice, and takes the time to answer all my questions completely. I'd recommend him to other students. Matteo is an excellent teacher; he prepares his classes very well, is patient, and explains both theory and technique very well. He also has a wealth of resources, publications, and sheet music. In addition, he is a composer and knows a lot about music history. Mxxxxxx A great teacher with training in many styles, his classes are enjoyable but packed with high-quality content.
