I love playing violin and I am always very enthusiastic when people decide to try learn it!
Whether you are a kid, a teenager or and adult it requires always a lot of courage. We can make this journey together, discovering how to solve technical issues but also how to be musical and develop your sound and ideas of expressing yourself through music!

With 15 years of teaching experience, I’ve honed my methods to facilitate rapid progress and maximize efficiency. My students achieve in months, what usually takes years when following a conventional music school program. Nonetheless, I am not taking any shortcuts. In my experience over the past few years as a piano teacher to students of all levels and ages, I have found that people learn so much more when they are able to express themselves and have a fun time from the very first lesson.

For this reason I focus on teaching piano and music through the lens of jazz, which allows for so much freedom as well as being really educational in all different styles of music. In my classes you will learn how music really works in a relevant way by studying music that you yourself enjoy listening to and would like to create, and practice dynamically using tools like backing tracks which make it feel like there is a band in the room with you!

I also produce electronic/funk/neo soul music for my solo project and as a session musician. If learning music production interests you, I can also help you with that!

Hi, I'm Karoline! I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Music and performing arts Vienna and have been teaching for several years.

Whether you are a complete beginner (of any age) or have been playing for many years - my lessons will be customized to fit you personal needs and goals. For me the most important thing is to pass down my passion for the instrument and music and to teach you how to be confident with your instrument.

I can also prepare you for exams (i.e. entrance exams for a music university) and teach lessons in music theory and ear training. In my lessons I like to occasionally use methods from elementary music education, which focuses on musical expression. That way you can practice to express yourself and your feelings on the instrument and the typical fear of mistakes is being avoided.

LEARNING BY HEART

Learn to play/sing favorite songs:
- Depending on your ability, we simplify (or enrich) the accompaniment and improve it in a fluid manner
- I'll show you various "hacks" and shortcuts
- you don't have to do anything "right", you can follow the fun.
- play/practice without pressure, how does that work...? You can make it easier for yourself! How much time you invest stays with you. :-)
- any style possible, as long as it makes sense for you technically
- Singing: easy!

Write your own songs:
- I give you different "glasses", "rails" through which you come up with new ideas, both for the music as well as the lyrics and singing
- "writers block" - from the head back to the heart using simple techniques
- learn to use the hidden treasure trove of ideas in your body (subconscious)!
- and most importantly: have fun with “bad” songs!

generally:
- you will find clear goals for each hour (e.g. record a song or parts of it,...), for the next few weeks and for the next months
- we record as much as possible because it is the best exercise (and the most exciting ;-) and you have something "in your hands" that is satisfying in itself, no matter how "perfect" it is (everything is perfect How clean is up to you ;-).

My model is the “Flexible” model, which means you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled lesson.
Please note: Cancellations within 24 hours before the lesson are subject to Apprentus policies, requiring payment of 50% of the lesson fee.

• Unexcused cancellations or cancellations made after the fact are not eligible for a make-up lesson or refund; the lesson will be considered as “given.”

• Lateness:
Students are expected to contact the teacher by phone if they are running late for a scheduled lesson. If a student arrives after the scheduled start time, the lesson will take place within the remaining time. Additional time to compensate for student lateness is not guaranteed.
If the teacher arrives late, additional time will be offered after the scheduled lesson time to make up for the delay.

• Scheduling for weekly lessons on a fixed weekday:
If the teacher is unable to be in Vienna during a given week, the student will be informed in advance so that a make-up lesson can be arranged.

• In case of last-minute cancellations by the teacher due to illness or a family emergency, a make-up lesson will be offered. If preferred, the make-up lesson can also be held online.
If a student cancels a rescheduled make-up lesson, that lesson will be forfeited.

• Copyright:
If a student wishes to record the lesson (live via audio/video or online via screen recording), they must obtain the teacher’s consent in advance.
