Each course can contain a quick deciphering session of an accessible piece. You will see that session after session, you will make dazzling progress in piano reading which will allow you to be more and more independent. Learning the piano with a teacher allows you to get on the right track to learn calmly and efficiently. We will also play with four hands, because non-solo playing is a great tool for developing listening, reading, and musicality. EMOTION !!!! Depending on the support, the course will be structured in different ways. If we follow a tutorial on YouTube, the advice will be more oriented towards the positioning of the hands and fingers, the nuances to be achieved and the anticipation of the notes. If you choose a more traditional paper format instead, we can find the sheet music for the pieces you want to learn. In both cases, the basics of music theory will be reworked. I have been playing the piano for 20 years now and I also studied music theory for 5 years.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

These lessons are for young and/or inexperienced singers. My lesson plans are tailored towards students' individual goals. For some, this may be learning and embodying an audition song for their school's upcoming theater performance, and for others voice lessons are a first step towards singing healthily in their church choir. In any case, I focus on correcting and building core skills necessary to singing one's best while encouraging and fostering creativity, accountability, and motivation. If considered for a long-term journey towards singing, I will focus particularly on classical techniques to build steady breath control, good posture, and proper vowel and consonant formation. Along with providing repertoire, if the student is ready and wants, there will be opportunities for vocal performance in the Santa Cruz area. I will encourage audio recordings in all lessons to help with future preparations. I will be assigning some homework after every lesson, likely a combination of vocalization exercises, dedicated sheet music practice, and theory homework (if needed). *My first lesson will involve getting to know the student, their goals, and some vocalization to assess vocal level. For singers with minimal/no prior foundational music theory knowledge, I may recommend time from lessons (15-30 minutes) being allocated solely towards foundational music theory learning.
