Norwegian Lessons for Beginners by a Native Speaker

Hei! I have a bachelor's degree in language and literature and a masters of Norwegian didactics, so you can rest assured that I know my native language and how to teach it in an effective manner. Whether you are a complete beginner or know some Norwegian, or if you're more advanced and would like to learn nynorsk or even some old norse grammar, I will be happy to assist. I will design our study sessions according to your needs, and can help with Examen philosophicum and Examen facultatum as well. I teach in clear, understandable English, but we will gradually make the lectures more Norwegian as we progress. Looking forward to seeing you!

Cosy private lessons for everybody I try to make my online lessons as cosy as possible. I use the video-conference system, so I can see my students and they can see me; we can talk, we make the exercises together, I explain all the grammar, and if my students have any doubt or questions, I explain it orally which I think makes it easier to be understood. It is as if we were sitting in an office side by side. The only thing we cannot do is drinking a coffee while we study. Besides the lessons, I always send some homework. I will send a book that we follow, and the rest of the material is sent by me by e-mail as well. As soon as it is possible, I advise my students to start reading books in the language they learn, and from the very beginning to start listening to the TV. It is a way of being surrounded by the language. I always insist a lot on the accent, and this helps. I have students with a perfect accent. Listening to the language also helps to open the hears to the sounds, making easier to understand. From the very beginning I also start with small conversations in each lesson. You may believe that all my students are being very successful with this kind of lessons. I have now students from all over the world. Concerning the level my students attain, ofcourse it depends on them. Together we see what your needs are and how fast you want to learn. As for the number of lessons per week, I advise that you should have at least two. Less than two is very little and you have a long break between lessons. It is bad because you don't have any contact with the language and feel that you are advancing very slowly. We can also have lessons in the weekend if that is easier for you.

I learnt chess when I was 5 and I have more than 25 years experience in chess at different levels and have won hundreds of tournaments. I have been member of the Iranian and Norwegian national teams and have played in chess olympiads. I speak many languages such as English, Norwegian, Persian (Farsi), Armenian fluently and I understand Swedish and Danish and a little bit of Finnish ☺️ So if you are interested in any of these skills I am ready to help you.

Born and raised in the capitol city of Oslo, I can provide classes to help you grasp the basics and increase your confidence in speaking and socialising in Norwegian. If there are any particular topics or areas you would like to focus on, I can be flexible with the contents of our lessons. I am currently based in central North London. Online classes are always available, however if you prefer face to face lessons I would be happy to meet outside for a lesson/conversations in Norwegian.

I always have an initial chat with a new student to find out why they want to learn languages, what they want to achieve, and what their preferred style of learning is. I believe that every student have a different learning process and what I find important is to truly recognize which way my students can learn more efficiently.
