Auxiliary verbs are small words that help the main verb in a sentence. They are used to form questions, negative sentences, and different tenses. The most common auxiliary verbs are be, have, and do.

1. Be (am, is, are, was, were)

Used to form continuous tenses or passive voice.

I am studying. (present continuous)
The cake was eaten. (passive voice)
2. Have (have, has, had)

Used to form perfect tenses.

She has finished her homework. (present perfect)
They had left before I arrived. (past perfect)
3. Do (do, does, did)

Used to form questions and negatives in the simple present and simple past.

Do you like coffee? (question)
He doesn't understand. (negative)
Did you go to the party? (question)
Quick Tips:
Use be for actions in progress or when describing a state.
Use have to talk about actions completed before now.
Use do to ask questions or make negatives in simple tenses.
