English teaching for children, prep exams, homework, general use for every day , locals and foreigners.
HI......I'm Laura, I come from South Africa and cannot wait to teach your kids or help them out It is essential to learn and grasp the English language today in this ever changing world, whether it be through technology, face to face, most businesses use English as a neutral language to communicate. It doesn't just happen, I feel that we have to start at the bottom, that being with children. Children are the key part to our future, they need to be taught from foundation to speak English, to understand the future as well as create the future through a universal and common language.
In my class, I will teach the importance of English, how to use grammar properly and new vocabulary. Along with this, especially in this age of technology, kids need to be stimulated at all times, I offer ways and techniques, especially to children with special needs to cope, whether it be for exams or in school or even bring it into every day life, using things like grammar, vocabulary and speech, even listening skills. However in 2016 I decided to study for an English qualification CELTA, I was teaching adults at the time, but flew off to Japan in 2017, it was there I was introduced to children. It was a challenge, as the kids couldn't speak English, they were new to me, however I found my passion. People always told me that I'd be a good teacher, but I wasn't to sure about that path to take. I loved helping children right through 18 with extra lessons, helping them with their homework. When I came back to South Africa, I was given a little Chinese boy to teach English to, wow what an experience, it was just unfortunate that he had to go back to China. From there I put myself out there, created my own business, teaching foreigners. A school asked me to come teach a Chinese girl who was battling. From there, the school sent all the foreign students, but taught local children too, who were battling. I always worked with school teachers at the school on what was needed to be taught. In 2023 the school asked me to teach this little Chinese boy, which today we still have a strong bond and is ahead of his class. In 2020 with covid, all lessons were done online, this was the biggest challenge I had to face with my student. I sat in all his class subjects, learned their syllabus, which was an advantage for the future kids I taught, and teaching him to speak English at the same time. I now am settling in the UK as being an EFL/English teacher in South Africa, there's not much for me there. But before I decided to come here, I taught a little boy with special needs for about a year. He was 9 and far behind his class and was ADHD. Once again, it was a challenge for me, but as time went by I learned how to deal with him too. I had a big garden, if I could see him losing concentration, I'd let him play around for a while with my dogs and cat, then got him back. For me that was so rewarding when the teachers gave his mother feedback on how well he was doing. Sadly finances was becoming an issue, there was more to offer me here in the UK. My first month here I worked for an international language school as my qualification is Cambridge related and taught kids from all over the world. But it wasn't a case of teaching them, we also looked after their well being and took part in all activities. I would finally just like to add that I have an advanced certificate in safe guarding children. Whether it be homework, tutor your child one on one or help even with confidence, I know I'm good at what I do and look forward to teaching your child.

About Me
Hi, My name is Laura, most of my students call me teacher Lolly and I am South African, living here in the UK. I have been teaching children for 7 years, this being my 8th year teaching English, online, class environment and one on one. I found my passion for children all the way in Japan, where I thought I was only going to teach adults. To my surprise kids were introduced to me. It was a challenge even though I have had dealings with kids and helping with homework or explaining something they didn't understand, but children who couldn't speak English. I have the personality to cope with kids, I am creative, fun, love laughing with kids, warm and loving, always use my integrity, it was through kids that I really discovered of all mentioned. People always told me I was good with children, patient, understanding and that kids loved me. I'm always interested in what they like and that brings a sense of what I can use in my material and way of teaching and I have my own style of teaching. I'm loud and bubbly and no matter what I always have a smile on my face. Just to confirm, when covid hit our earth, I taught online from home, my sister use to say I was louder than the kids. That describes me to the T.Education
I have a CELTA qualification which is to teach English as a second language, however I taught South African children just battling ao left behind of their class level.I have a Bachelor degree in communications
I have an advanced certificate in safeguarding of children
Experience / Qualifications
I have 7 years experience this being my 8th year of teaching English as a second language amongst other subjects, but that I learned through one of my students during covid. I use to sit in all his classes online s that I could explain the classes to him whilst trying to teach him English. I've had online experience, as I have taught 2 Chinese sisters online residing in China. I've had classroom experience as well as one on one being a tutor. I have also worked here in the UK at a summer school language school and taught kids from all around the world. I taught them English, but we use to attend all other activities in the evening but also looking after their well being, making sure they were eating, comforting if they were missing home. It really was a lovely experience and also meeting teachers from other parts of the world.Learning English is an essential part of life in the world in these times as most international businesses, trade with all parts of the world and to communicate they use English as a neutral language. It is vital that children especially have to know English, how to speak it and how to understand it keeping up with the times ahead of them and as a teacher of English, especially to foreign children, the language is rapidly changing and improving. Even I as a teacher have to learn new things in order for the youth to carry on.
In my class, the student will learn the effectiveness of the English language and the importance of it, how to use grammar properly and allow them to learn to use it even if it's just for every day life along with new vocabulary and new skills. I will be able to show them the techniques they can use whether it be for an exam or class work. If I'm teaching a child with special needs, I can teach them how to cope by using English as a foundation and new skills. Fun, laughter, love, empathy, integrity and creativity are all part of my class, to allow for the child to feel safe and relaxed around me and creating a sense of trust. I think all of these are essential, it grabs their attention and it allows for the child to feel safe and comfortable.

Private French lessons for adults and teenagers with native French speaker in Co. MayoFor the past two decades, I've had the privilege of tutoring in both French and English. My students have ranged in age, background, and origin, spanning children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and even seniors aged 85 and above.
You might wonder why I teach both languages. Well, I am bilingual, with American and Swiss/French roots, and I currently reside in Ireland. This unique blend of experiences equips me with a strong and relevant teaching approach. I possess an intimate understanding of both cultures, enabling me to tailor my classes to the specific needs of my students.
My teaching journey began during my time studying social work in French-speaking Switzerland. I started offering private French and English lessons to supplement my income, and I quickly discovered my passion for it. Even after graduating and embarking on a full-time career, I couldn't bear to give up this rewarding activity. I cherished the opportunity to connect with diverse individuals and assist them in achieving their language goals.
In my teaching methodology, interactivity takes center stage. I employ a variety of engaging learning tools, including photos, newspaper articles, music, videos, and more. My approach is highly adaptable, with a focus on addressing each student's unique priorities. Some seek to refine their pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary, while others require assistance with presentations or speeches for school or work. Some simply aspire to acquire a new language to enrich their general knowledge. I also specialize in teaching younger children, a testament to my educational background and experience.
What you will gain from my courses extends beyond impeccable pronunciation and enhanced vocabulary and grammar. You'll also acquire a profound understanding of the culture associated with each language. When speaking a language, it's essential to appreciate the lifestyle, traditions, and heritage of the nations where it thrives. French and English are spoken as primary languages in numerous countries worldwide, each with its own unique accent and cultural nuances. The learning process is limitless!
In addition to my language instruction, I'm a genealogist and host spiritual (non-religious) seminars in the beautiful West of Ireland. My passion for vegetarian and vegan cuisine adds a flavorful dimension to my life. Furthermore, I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education and have operated a private "Before & Afterschool" facility along with Summer Camps catering to children aged 4 to 12 for many years.
I am genuinely excited about the prospect of meeting and working with you!

Non-formal Latin classes. Multilingual teacher with 10 years of experience. Pronunciation, historical linguistics, semantics.Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart.
I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches:
If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options:
1) Learn the schedules by heart.
2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m.
In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster.
My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results.
Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind.
I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics.
What will not be the subject of the course:
learn lists of verbs;
learn lists of nouns with their gender;
learn words with their translations;
memory card game;
doing school exercises;
follow the program in a notebook;
impose French grammar on the Latin language.
What matters to me in particular:
motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm;
encourage creativity;
make friends with language;
letters and their sounds
strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop;
teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart;
explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible;
breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ;
place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice.
In the context of a first course, you can get a well-founded idea of my pedagogy.
I look forward to meeting you.
Nesrine
