About Me

As a native Italian speaker, teaching my language and culture is not just a professional goal for me, but a true passion that has accompanied me throughout my life.

After a long career as a translator, during which I was able to deepen my linguistic skills (including the Swiss variant of Italian) and my intercultural understanding, I expanded my professional activities to include the teaching of Italian language and culture.

I completed a Master's degree in "Promoting and Teaching Italian Language and Culture to Foreigners" at the Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy), through which I acquired solid didactic and pedagogical skills. At the same time, I undertook an internship at the Italian Studies Department of the University of Basel (Switzerland) as well as at the upper-secondary level commercial school in Liestal (Switzerland), where I actively participated in Italian language classes. These experiences allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge directly in to practice and to gain valuable insights into lesson planning and teaching methodology.

I bring a high level of motivation, responsibility, and enthusiasm to linguistic and cultural teaching. I enjoy working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and I place great importance on creating an open, respectful, and inspiring learning environment.

- I'm a professional Italian teacher from Italy, now living between Pisa and Rome. I have 10 years of teaching experience. I am very patient and I love to make a relaxed and friendly class environment. I have qualifications and experience teaching at different levels and in different contexts. - The method is mainly what is called communicative, aimed at stimulating the student to speak immediately and putting the focus on the functional aspect of the language. For beginners, I usually follow a specific program, I prepare a course, and for each lesson, I send students the files that I scan from the various books. Also, the lessons can be essentially developed as conversations on specific subjects.

I teach for all levels, from very beginners to advanced speakers, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I can also help with university exams and school works/assignments.
Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages.

The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. My suggestion of a well planned lesson is, for any level, to divide it into two parts: grammar first and then conversation (covering all the abilities mentioned above).

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
