From a personal perspective, social sciences, regardless of GCSE or A-level, require enormous reading and understanding of the texts, critical thinking and writing. These are crucial to students' performances for their exams. I can teach all periods of English Literature - but particularly Shakespeare and Classical Drama - having a BA from Oxford and also an MA in Russian and East European Literature from UCL.
