I am a creative, patient and adaptive primary teacher with 8 years of experience. I began teaching as a university student, volunteering in a local primary school, and fell in love with helping students feel passionate and engaged in their learning. I began my teacher training in 2017 with the Teach First programme, teaching near London. In 2019 I moved to Italy and taught there for 6 years, honing my skills in developing confident learners with a great understanding of English. Last year, I moved to Belgium to join my partner and have begun life as a tutor!

What I love most about tutoring is being able to target each lesson to the child, slowly building their confidence and focusing on the areas they need most support, helping them to feel confidence in their learning. I build their interests and strengths into each lesson so they feel engaged and supported. I have a wealth of experience supporting students with a range of SEND needs as well as English as an Additional Language.

About Me

I'm Laurel. I'm originally from the UK where I obtained my degree in Ancient History and History and trained to be a primary school teacher. After I qualified, I began teaching in international schools in Italy, where I was able to indulge my passions for history, art and food! After 6 years in Italy, I moved to Belgium in 2025 to join my partner and began my career as a tutor.

In my free time, I like to be creative - I'm a keen dressmaker and learning to crochet and embroider! I also spend a lot of time reading, particularly about history, and cooking.

I followed specialized training such as the verb tonal method, Feldenkrais or mental coaching.

With years of experience as an engineer in Belgium and the Netherlands, I would like to help other students navigate the sometimes complex world of mathematics and physics.
