Hey there, I'm Roberta, an environmentalist from Sardinia.

I moved to Amsterdam six years ago, and I'm on the lookout for exciting new opportunities. My academic background is in International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs, and my journey has taken me through various countries – France, Spain, Portugal, Poland, and now, the Netherlands.

Whether you'd like to improve your speaking skills and break the language barrier or you wish to prepare better for an English exam, I come to an aid.

In 2023, I've obtained a Master degree in Linguistics at the University of Amsterdam. I've achieved the C1+ levels in English, on the CEFR scale. I have 2 years of experience living in London, where I acquired RP (received pronunciation) and 7 years of experience in the International Academia (Amsterdam). My linguistic background gives me the capacity to explain the sounds and various processes of the language, from a perspective many natives do not know. In teaching, I practice the holistic approach. It is my belief that language is for people of every age and education, but I'm aware that everyone deserves a personal approach. Hola everyone!
I have always been passionate about arts, culture, people, and traveling, and through my communicative experiences interacting with different people in different languages around the world, I have understood the essential needs when it comes to language acquisition. That is why my method is a compilation of the traditional usage of books, texts, audios, and short films, combined with PowerPoint presentations full of images, interactive games, and recreation of real-life situations in which the students will naturally learn complex grammar topics while having fun. I also create a particular relationship with each student to detect the type of learner the student is and tailor the class according to his/her personality, needs, and expectations. The class can be taught in English or Dutch but I am always aiming to expose the student to Spanish as much as possible so he/she can experience faster progress.

I was born in Italy, but for the last two years of my life I have traveled the world, mainly in Central and South America and the Middle East, traveling and working remotely.
I am a professional teacher with 6 years of experience. I worked on the translation of medical and legal articles, panels in the glass museum in Venice and worked as an interpreter at the court of Venice.

I’m a native Italian speaker, and I lived in the UK for eight years, where I taught Italian in individual, group, and online lessons. I have supported students preparing for A-Level Italian, professionals working with the Italian market, and people planning to travel or move to Italy.

I teach Italian (and English) using the Direct Communicative Method. This means we focus on speaking and understanding Italian in real, everyday situations. From the very beginning, you will learn Italian by actively using it. Our lessons will take place almost entirely in Italian. If you’re a beginner, we can use a little English at first, but the goal is to build your confidence so you can speak naturally and comfortably. We will also work on grammar, pronunciation, reading, listening, and writing, according to your needs.

I have experience teaching all ages and levels: from primary school children to professionals, in companies, language centres, and public schools.
