In my music lessons (piano or accordion), a more flexible learning approach, from listening to playing – making music without sheet music! – is an important part of the curriculum. From the very beginning, students practice playing simple, familiar melodies on the instrument, and then, as a second step, accompanying them. Classical playing from sheet music, music theory, and finger dexterity training are, as in music school, further elements of this practical instruction.
