Online programming courses for children and teens — Create your own games with Scratch, Python or Roblox

Online programming courses for children and teens — Create your own games with Scratch, Python or Roblox

Does your child love video games and want to understand how to create them? I offer online programming courses for children and teenagers, beginners or those with some prior knowledge. As an independent developer, I have also been teaching programming and robotics to young people for over a year. My approach is based on practice: each new concept is used to build a project that the student can test, modify and personalize. Depending on their age, desires, and skill level, we can work with: • Scratch: discover programming by creating games and animations. Movement, interaction, scores, mazes or Snake allow you to gradually approach the logic of code. • Python: Learn text-based programming through mini-games, challenges, and small applications. We work specifically on variables, conditions, loops, and functions. • Roblox Studio: design a game world and learn how to make it interactive with Luau. Obstacle courses, checkpoints, collectibles, and game rules are suitable projects to start with. The goal is for the student to understand what they are building, learn to identify errors, and gradually gain autonomy. Projects are guided, then personalized to allow ample room for their creativity. The courses are primarily aimed at young people aged 8 to 17. The choice of tools and the level of difficulty are adapted to each student: no prior programming knowledge is necessary to begin. The sessions take place remotely, with screen sharing. Individual or small group lessons can be arranged depending on availability and skill levels.

Learning Games Development With Unity From An Experienced Developer

Learning Games Development With Unity From An Experienced Developer

I'm a programmer with over 15 years of experience making games & developer. This is a game I've built from scratch and self-published. During my career, I've tackled almost all aspects of game development, so the session can be tailored to whatever level you require. If you're just curious about a career in games and want to talk to someone about what is involved, what the risks might be, if a university course looks good, etc we can talk it through in a 30-minute session. Otherwise, if you want to have a go at building a simple game from scratch, we can do that in a 60-minute session. It can be any type of game, but keep in mind that with only an hour we will only be able to build a very basic version, so it's best to have a simple idea in mind to get the most out of our time. I can also act as a consultant on your own game and help build a game over a longer period of time. For this I would recommend booking a weekly 1 hour session to see your progress and help guide you through each step as the game evolves. About Me: I've been developing games during my career which started as a software developer creating apps, websites, servers, databases, VR/AR projects and games. Lately I've been specialising in performance and optimisation. During my career I was always working on Aiyana as a passion project until after a couple of years I decided to start investing my spare budget from contract work into paying artists and audio engineers to help turn Aiyana into a more serious game. Once it reached a good quality bar I applied for, and received, a grant from the UK Games Fund which allowed me to quit my job for a while and focus purely on the game. During this time I tried to raise investment and was in talks with companies such as Lego and Ubisoft but in the end I wasn't successful and decided to publish Aiyana myself. The release went well with (currently) 94% positive reviews however self publishing means its harder to raise awareness of any project so its not making me enough money to pay a salary which is why I'm trying Apprentus.

Linux & How Computers Really Work, for Cybersecurity Students

Linux & How Computers Really Work, for Cybersecurity Students

Most cybersecurity courses skip the part everything else sits on: how Linux, processes and memory actually behave. You're expected to "just know" it. I teach that part, one to one, at your pace. Who I am: a backend team lead with 7+ years in production, and a CTF player. My team placed 9th of 200+ at Standoff 15, a three-day live offensive-security competition, and I've published Hack The Box writeups and a malware analysis. I also mentored groups of 14-17 students at LANIT-Tercom's developer summer camps in 2021 and 2022. What we can cover (you pick): - Linux fundamentals: shell, files and permissions, users, processes, services, logs, package managers - Linux for security: what attackers and defenders actually look at on a box - How computers work: boot, CPU and memory, processes and threads, syscalls, file systems - Your first TryHackMe / Hack The Box machines, coached step by step (legal platforms only) - Privacy basics: threat modelling, passwords and 2FA, what a VPN does and doesn't do - "I'm stuck on this uni topic": concepts explained, not answers handed over How lessons work: 1. You tell me what you want to understand or what you're stuck on. 2. We share a screen and you drive. I ask questions, point and explain. I only take the keyboard to show something, then hand it back. 3. After the lesson you get a written recap: what we covered, commands, links and one small task for next time. I won't do graded homework for you. I'll make sure you understand it well enough to do it yourself. Good fit for: cybersecurity and CS students, self-taught people moving into security who keep hitting gaps in the basics, and developers who want to stop being scared of the terminal. Send me a message with what you're working on and we'll plan your first lesson around it.

Graphic Design Lessons in English for Kids and Beginners – Learn Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & Figma

Graphic Design Lessons in English for Kids and Beginners – Learn Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & Figma

Please note: All lessons are taught exclusively in English. I do not offer lessons in Dutch. My lessons are designed for children and beginners who want to explore the world of graphic design and learn how to create their own projects. We will start with the basics! Before jumping into design software, we will explore the fundamentals of graphic design, including a little bit of design history and important design principles such as typography, color theory, composition and visual hierarchy. Step by step, students will learn how to work with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Figma. I believe that the best way to learn design is by actually creating things! That's why my lessons include fun, creative assignments such as designing logos, posters, visual identities, websites and mobile app interfaces. Every lesson will be adapted to the student's age, interests, experience and learning pace. My goal is not just to teach students how to use design software, but also how to think like designers. I want to help them develop their creativity, solve problems and understand the decisions behind their designs. By the end of our lessons, students will have their own creative projects that they can proudly include in their portfolios. All lessons are taught in English, in a friendly and supportive environment where students are encouraged to experiment, ask questions and learn from their mistakes.

Maths/physics/computer science at the middle school/high school/university level in Lille or online

Maths/physics/computer science at the middle school/high school/university level in Lille or online

My method is based primarily on adapting to the student: their level, their objectives, their difficulties, and their way of thinking. I can support a student who wants to consolidate their foundations as well as a more advanced student who wants to delve deeper or prepare for scientific studies. A typical session usually unfolds in four stages: 1. Quickly review the concepts covered, the difficulties encountered, and any questions since the previous session. 2. Identify the problem precisely using a few questions or short exercises. I prefer to target the actual difficulty rather than unnecessarily revisiting an entire chapter. 3. Review the concept clearly and progressively, then solve a first exercise together, explaining the reasoning and the different steps. 4. Gradually move towards autonomy: I then allow the student to explore more independently, while intervening when they get stuck or when an error reveals a misunderstanding. I place great importance on reasoning. My goal is not for the student to memorize a recipe for a specific type of exercise, but for them to understand the concepts well enough to be able to reuse them in a new situation. In mathematics and physics, this involves understanding the assumptions, methods, and logic behind the calculations. In computer science, I also emphasize practical application: understanding a problem, breaking it down, constructing a solution, and then analyzing any errors. The sessions can of course be adapted to the needs of the moment: review of the course, exercises, homework, preparation for a test or exam, further study or work methodology.
