About Me
My name is Melanie, I am eighteen years old and I recently graduated from the higher general secondary education at Sint-Janscollege. In my spare time I like to be invested in music, Netflix or a good book. My interests go broad and deep from Quantum mechanics to sports. Furthermore I believe it is of most importance to exchange and pass on knowledge, so that is what I am hoping to achieve here.
Lastly, I do not think of myself as strict, however I will be contacting your legal guardian when I feel the effort that is supposed to be put in these classes is insufficient.

Experience / Qualifications
I have taught other scholars before in both French and Dutch. In order to do this, I had to get a testimony of my former or current teachers stating I am fit and qualified to teach the specific subject to another student. Furthermore, there will be plenty of teachers that are happy to vouch for me when I say I mostly spend my time helping to educate others. Despite my alpha profile, I have never had any trouble trying to learn a new language or explaining it to someone else. But then I used to take my classes in English as well, as one might be able to tell. Not insignificant is that I just finished all of these subjects, which means the learning techniques and the teaching material are fresh in my mind.

The English language is often used as a mother tongue and as a starting point when you are abroad. Also, many courses, especially at universities, are in English. Mastering and understanding this language is therefore of great importance.

In my tutoring sessions I will personally work with you to improve your English skills. There are also regular consultations and feedback so that I can best adapt my lesson to your needs.

Do you only have trouble with one or two specific skills? No problem. I am also happy to help with that.

We can also write papers together, check letters and find other ways to help you understand it as well as possible.

Qui suis-je? I'm Nicole. You can contact me for courses, tutoring, homework assistance and exam training in the French language.

Do you want to prepare your child for French lessons in the first year? Then I offer the opportunity to get acquainted with this language. Much of the communication in such a lesson is in French, but for children who are just starting I give explanations in Dutch. The main thing is that children enjoy learning the language. That is why games are also played in class. Topics can be 'greeting someone' 'telling something about yourself, naming colors, etc.

France is a popular holiday destination for many Dutch people. However, it can sometimes be difficult if you want to order a baguette or croissant and in the event of a breakdown on the road you will first have to call in a 'dépanneur' who will tow the car to a nearby garage, because France does not have a roadside assistance service. Google translate then seems useful, but a translation machine knows no grammar and interpreting the context of a word is also not possible. "I have a breakdown with my car" translates as "Je n'ai pas de chance avec ma voiture". Now a garage owner can conclude from that that you have problems with the car, but you make yourself better understood by saying: "Notre voiture est en panne."
Even if you are considering buying a house in France, you can take a course to overcome a language barrier.

Learning French is a new challenge. This language has its own rules and they are not always logical. There are many ways to learn the French language and you can always find one that suits you. But how do you know what suits you? I will discuss this with you prior to a tutoring session. With extra explanation and targeted exercises I help you to get better in the French language. But I also look at how you learn the material and I give you tips to learn smarter. Of course I provide variety with the help of French material, just think of songs, film fragments and reading a piece from the most famous newspapers such as 'Le Figarot' and 'Le Monde'.

Dear language lovers,

WHAT I OFFER
I provide French and English lessons for all levels and domains, whether business, academic, social, or simply for the joy of learning a rich and fascinating language. I can help you develop your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in both French and English. From grammar and syntax to vocabulary enrichment, I use a personalized, pedagogical approach based on your individual needs and shared learning goals we define together.

MY EXPERIENCE
As a native French speaker, I know the beauty and poetry of the language inside and out, and I’m excited to share it with anyone curious to dive in. Since high school, I’ve offered private tutoring to students aged 10 to 17, helping them with everything from grammar worksheets and book reviews to philosophy essays and creative writing assignments.

As for English, I was raised in an international school environment where English was a core part of my education from childhood through high school. I earned my TOEFL certificate before beginning my current bachelor’s studies, which are entirely in English. I've also taught English with a focus on pronunciation, grammar, syntax, and practical communication skills.

TUTORING SET-UP
When tutoring, I place strong emphasis on tracking progress, often by assigning homework (if agreed upon) and creating clear, structured plans to help students stay on track. I’m always flexible and happy to adapt to each learner’s feedback and preferences to make lessons as enjoyable and engaging as possible.

I offer lessons online or in person—either at my place or yours. Thanks to my bilingual upbringing (with a German mother) and my French-German high school diploma (AbiBac), I can also provide instruction in German if needed.

Looking forward to sharing the joy of language learning with you!
