Experienced drummer and teacher, looking for enthusiastic students. Classes are tailored specifically to a student's learning style, with a real impetus on blending drum theory with practical playing.

Whether it be online (live-streamed from a professional studio) or in-person, a student can expect to have a fantastic learning experience in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Got your own drum kit? Wanting to have the lessons in the comfort of your own home? I am willing to travel to you also!

DBS certified. Grade 8 standard drummer with a BA (Hons) in Professional Musicianship.

Students are encouraged to invest in a folder that can be used to store learning materials that are provided at each class. Having your own sticks is a bonus. However, this can be provided.

Présentation

Friendly, enthusiastic, and patient drum teacher with experience of teaching privately as well as part of a music school. A teacher who will take the time to get to know their students, finding out what their needs and expectations are of the sessions.

Outside of music, I have extensive experience of delivering a high level of customer service as both a freelance filmmaker and Student Services Officer at Music University.

Education

A 2.1 degree in BA (Hons) Professional Musicianship at the British & Irish Institute of Modern Music.

Have also acquired a Grade 8 Drums (Rockschool), along with three A-Levels at C.

- Excellent understanding of Drum Theory
- Experience of writing original music and composing for film
- Experience of being a musical director in both original and function band projects
- Versatile set of performance skills - Rock, Pop, Big Band, Brass, Jazz and Blues
- Confident written and verbal communication - email, social media, Skype, Zoom, presenting and pitching
- Strong understanding of the key pedagogical principles and issues surrounding safeguarding
- Knowledge of how to prepare students for ABRSM, Trinity and Rockschool exams

The class if for aspiring drummer from all level and ages. You will learn about technique (hands and feet), as well as styles (Pop, Rock, Blues, Funk, Soul, Jazz, Electronic, etc.), reading and transcription, time keeping, etc. The lesson will be entirely based on the student's needs and I will adapt the content based on those.

I will always maintain a supportive and positive environment for the student, the objective being to help him / her reach his / her own goals in a way that is both challenging and fun. My aim is not to overwhelm the student with content or to make him / her feel negatively in any way, shape or form !

For the last 20 years I have taught hundreds of drummers both privately and in formal institutions such as BiMM London (formerly Drumtech), ICMP and LMA colleges. I have developed a strong reputation, helping musicians to sound great behind the drums.
My priorities as a player are always to be able to make the band sound great.
I work on fundamentals that are directly applicable in musical situations.
Whether I help someone taking their first steps on the instrument, or professional players who want to fine tune their technique, I have a very similar approach:
It starts with a dialogue, understanding the person I work with, a diagnostic then a plan to reach our goals.
