Ciao, I am Desi Alessandrini and I’ve been teaching Italian as a foreign language since 1988. I was born in Trento, in northern Italy, and over the years I’ve lived in Brazil, Sardegna, and now in a small village in Abruzzo.

I have a degree in Italian Language and Culture for Foreigners and I’m a certified Italian teacher (DILS-PG, University of Perugia).

I’m a patient and understanding teacher, and I love introducing students to Italy beyond the usual stereotypes. I love history, politics, philosophy, art history, literature, comics, and cinema, often bringing these passions into my lessons.

I offer structured Italian courses where you’ll start speaking from the very first lesson, even if you’re a complete beginner. You can also choose a more exploratory course focused on Italian history and/or art history, or simply book conversation-only lessons to practice and gain confidence.

With my Italiano + Arte and Italiano + Storia programs, you can learn Italian while taking a guided journey through Italian art history and/or history. Using images, maps, and videos, we’ll explore Italy’s most fascinating events and cultural heritage, while you naturally improve your Italian.

I work with students of all levels and with different learning goals, whether you’re studying Italian for travel, work, university, or personal and intercultural growth.

I have a degree in Italian Language and Culture for Foreigners from Consorzio Icon.
I’m a certified Italian teacher (DILS-PG, University of Perugia) since 2008.

- I'm a professional Italian teacher from Italy, now living between Pisa and Rome. I have 10 years of teaching experience. - The method is mainly what is called communicative, aimed at stimulating the student to speak immediately and putting the focus on the functional aspect of the language. For beginners, I usually follow a specific program, I prepare a course, and for each lesson, I send students the files that I scan from the various books. If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
