Adobe Premiere Pro is a highly effective and powerful program for video editing and filmmaking. It is used by not only industry professionals but also film enthusiasts that simply want to make a video for YouTube.

I am an experienced freelance filmmaker, and I hope to teach the basics of non-linear editing through Adobe Premiere Pro so that students who are interested in making their own films can learn how to make their own films on their own computers. This class is designed for beginners who are interested in learning how to use the program. You will learn the basic tools and keyboard shortcuts, as well as the basic workflow of the interface. You will also learn the basics of video editing working with film clips or your own footage.

Originally from Guangzhou, China, I obtained a BA in biology and anthropology. Right now, I am pursuing my MA in visual anthropology at Goldsmiths. I am a freelance filmmaker with experience in producing, directing, and editing documentaries.

In addition to English being my primary language, I speak and write Cantonese and Mandarin. I also like to cook and boulder during my free time.

Aprovecha el boom! Las plataformas de streaming quieren comprar buenos guiones!

Soy guionista egresada de la Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV de San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba y profesora de guion con más de diez años de experiencia. He impartido docencia en Cuba, Estados Unidos y Chile y escrito para teatro cine y televisión. Además he formado parte del comité de selección y jurado de varios festivales y fondos concursables latinoamericanos.

Existe un importante mercado de compras de guiones en plataformas como Netflix o Amazon Prime que están en búsqueda de historias originales y atractivas para ser compradas. Pero no están encontrando buenos guiones. Lamentablemente muchas de las producciones cinematográficas contemporáneas, partiendo incluso de ideas atractivas, adolecen de una buena escritura dramática. Los resultados suelen ser películas en ocasiones bien fotografiadas, producidas, editadas, pero con guiones débiles, incompletos, monótonos. Por tanto las grandes productoras quieren un cambio ahora y están a la caza de guiones potentes y de calidad. Esa historia que tienes en mente o tal vez en un borrador puede ser uno de ellos. Pero necesitas primero escribirla y escribirla bien!

Para ello en mis clases desarrollaremos las técnicas dramatúrgicas aplicadas a la escritura y al formato del guion cinematográfico. Partiremos de ideas generales sobre el guion y el rol del guionista, para conocer y poner en práctica los conceptos de sinopsis, argumento, tratamiento, estructura, escena, construcción de personajes y formato de guion. El engranaje de uno con el otro, nos permitirá escribir guiones ya sea de series, documentales o largometrajes de ficción potentes, atractivos realizables y vendibles.

Una vez terminado el proceso pondremos en práctica una estrategia de mercado mediante la confección de una carpeta compuesta por los documentos de postulación no solo
para la presentación del guion en dichas productoras sino para su participación en festivales de cine, y concursos en búsqueda de financiamiento.

Clase 1: Biografía y formación
Se abordará su infancia, su crianza en un entorno católico dentro de la Unión Soviética, el contexto social y cultural de la época, su formación como estudiante de cine y sus primeras películas. El objetivo es comprender de dónde nace su mirada artística y espiritual.

Clases 2 a 6: Filmografía y lenguaje cinematográfico
Se realizará un análisis completo de su obra, siguiendo un recorrido cronológico por sus películas para identificar temas, obsesiones y transformaciones a lo largo del tiempo.
Trabajaremos su estilo y lenguaje cinematográfico:
– el tiempo y el ritmo
– las atmósferas
– la memoria
– los símbolos
– lo espiritual
