Creative, personalised saxophone lessons with a professional performing musician. Would you like to learn the saxophone, return to playing after a break, or develop your skills in jazz and improvisation? I’m Ján Kopčák, a professional saxophonist, educator and active performing musician based in Košice, Slovakia. I hold a Master of Arts in jazz saxophone from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Austria, and have also studied in Helsinki, Finland. Alongside my private teaching, I teach at the Košice Conservatory and perform with various musical projects. I offer individual saxophone lessons in English for adults and children, from complete beginners to advanced players. What can you learn? Lessons are tailored to your interests, experience and goals. Depending on your level, we can work on: * Getting started: saxophone basics, breathing, posture, finger technique and playing your first songs. * Sound and technique: tone quality, articulation, intonation, flexibility and confident playing. * Jazz and improvisation: learn to improvise, understand harmony, develop your musical ear and build your own musical vocabulary. * Playing the music you love: explore jazz, pop, blues, classical music or other styles that inspire you. * Developing as a musician: rhythm, phrasing, groove, musical expression and effective practice techniques. Whether you want to play for fun, join a band, explore jazz, or prepare for an audition, we will build a practical learning plan around your goals. Learn from an active professional musician My musical background includes classical and jazz education, international studies, live performance, studio recording and original musical projects. I have performed and collaborated with established musicians including Dave Liebman, Jimmy Cobb and Erik Truffaz. My approach combines solid technical foundations with creativity, musical understanding and the freedom to develop your own sound. You don’t need previous musical experience to start. Curiosity and a willingness to practise are enough.
