About Me
As a dedicated musician, holding both a Bachelor of Music from the Royal College of Music in London and a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music in New York, I have gained valuable experience as a freelance musician in various philharmonic orchestras and jazz ensembles. Additionally, I have imparted private music lessons to students of all ages and have taught at music schools, delivering both individual and group lessons to string ensembles. Furthermore, I have had the privilege of participating in prestigious orchestra courses, including the esteemed "Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan."
I am fluent in German, English, Spanish and Polish, allowing me to effectively communicate with a diverse range of students.
My teaching methodology revolves around fostering a strong foundation in technique and developing a beautiful sound. I am deeply committed to nurturing a genuine love and passion for music within my students. I firmly believe that music education should not only aim to cultivate technical proficiency but also instill a lifelong appreciation for the art form.

Hi there,

I'm a professional viola and violin teacher, teaching in person and online, in English, German or Russian.

As well as instrumental teaching and ensemble coaching of all ages and levels over the last 12 years, I’ve led numerous professional workshops, including ‘Music First’ and ‘Music Masters’ in London and have taught on the Senior and Primary Arpeggione Viola Courses. As a member of the European String Teachers’ Association, I participated in their conferences across Europe, including at the European Parliament in 2018.

I also prepare students for music exams, auditions and competitions at all levels, and work with them on music theory, aural and sight reading skills, and can accompany them the piano.

Alongside my teaching I perform internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, including at Kings Place London, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and Philharmonie Berlin. I am a Hattori Foundation and Villa Musica artist, winner of the Małopolska competition, the Barbirolli Prize at the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition and the Len Lickorish Memorial Prize at the Royal Overseas League International Strings Competition.

I hold a masters degree with first class honours from the class of Tabea Zimmermann at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, and Bachelors with the same distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where I began in the primary department almost 20 years ago.

I'm an avid chamber musician, and am a founding member of Ensemble Textura, a string ensemble based in Berlin, performing renowned works alongside experimental arrangements and lesser known masterpieces. I've also performed with Tabea Zimmermann at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Gary Hoffman and Antje Weithaas at Kronberg Academy’s ‘Chamber Music Connects the World’, with Claudio Martínez Mehner at Encuentro de Santander, and regularly participate in the Open Chamber Music Seminar at Prussia Cove.

Playing the drums is both fun and very rewarding, but it also carries a significant amount of responsibility. The drummer is the backbone of any musical community, creating a vital foundation for the other instruments to thrive upon. With a wealth of exercises and content available online at your fingertips to study, I can offer you valuable, personalized advice on three key aspects: technique, time, and touch. I like to call them the 3Ts.

Technique: Playing the drums is physically demanding, requiring an awareness of proper posture to safely build the muscles needed to maintain a seamless flow of movement for hours on end.

Time: Keeping a steady pulse is the primary focus of being a drummer. We need to build up our confidence to consistently maintain the desired time, even under adverse conditions.

Touch: While presenting steady time, we need to open our awareness to make our beat feel good. It’s an attitude. It’s about being musical. This means using dynamics and personalizing our four limbs to create our own unique groove. This is where it gets deep.

I love teaching beginners. They usually can jump ahead quickly in a short time. There is no mystery. The way forward means dedicating a little (or a lot) of time daily to the drums. Even just 10 minutes a day can lead to significant improvements. That’s the secret.

I recommend using an intensive approach with the classes.

Beginners take 5 weeks of 60-minute classes to learn the basics and then continue working on your own, returning for follow-up “check-ups” as needed.
For intermediate-level students, I recommend a 90-minute class where I present a comprehensive overview, all tailored to your immediate needs. You then come back for more when the information has been digested.
For advanced-level students, the same. There is so much to cover that we can focus on very specific topics. Styles, the rudiments etc... I have a lot of experience with traditional jazz and the rudimental history behind the craft.

In the end, it's about creating time to connect with the drums every day. This connection is a wonderfully rewarding and grounding addition to our lives. I look forward to meeting and working with you.
