I have always had a passion for teaching, after my degree I trained to become a teacher. I have now been teaching for three years and know how to make learning fun and effective.

I studied Geography at Royal Holloway University of London, attaining a BSC in Geography, prior to this I studied the Alevels: Biology, Geography and Religious Studies

I have been teaching languages to all ages for the past 30 years. I took early retirement in July 2022 and have since been tutoring privately, with a very high success rate..
I have taught in the same secondary school for the past 21 years and my classes have performed well in French and German at GCSE and A level.
I have also done a lot of teaching English as a foreign language, to guests in our house.

Can learning English be fun, insightful, productive and effective at the same time? I believe so!

Whatever your background or profession, deciding to learn a foreign language is a great way to add another dimension to your life and make your mind work in a new way. You become a (slightly) different person, since along with a new language, one learns to look at the world in a slightly different way. This is why my approach to teaching English is not only aimed at laying or strengthening the foundational knowledge - grammar, speaking, writing and listening skills, but also at introducing students to the culture of the English-speaking population. We will find out what English speakers find funny, what drives them to tears, what makes them feel proud and what they get embarrassed about.

Open to students of all levels, my course usually is taught online, using a variety of visual aids and a wide range of material, from textbooks to YouTube videos. In teaching advanced learners, I often refer to pieces of literature such as novels and poems, since they easily spark discussions, which in turn improves the students' grasp and feel of the language. In doing so, I take students beyond ordinary textbooks and grammar books, since they are no more than guides to learning, not absolute authorities, and because to me language is a living, constantly evolving matter, which you must submerge yourself into in order to understand.

In addition to my unorthodox approach, what sets me apart is a collection of unique, language-related experiences, which translate into a good ability to understand nuances of the English language. A native Russian speaker, I have lived in the UK for over 5 years, went to a Scottish boarding school and have even completed a university degree in English. My name is Philipp, and I am a student at University College London. I am originally from Berlin, but speak fluent German and English. Before that, I already gave tuition to younger students at my school, but I am now looking forward to offering German and English-speaking help to students in a new environment in London. In my private life I like to play tennis, take part in debates at the university, and deal with political issues. I can usually be in the afternoon from 4:00 p.m., but I am also available on weekends. I am pleased to meet you :)

I give tutoring and lessons in math and German, from beginners to native speakers. I passed my high school diploma with a grade of 1.0 in Hesse and my law degree with top marks. I have been giving tutoring for over five years, especially in German and math.

I provide booster classes in Arithmetic and reasoning for KS1 and KS2 to revise for SATs in Year 6 but also the years prior to this.

Additionally, I provide Reading booster classes for KS1 and KS2 with a focus on comprehension skills including inference and predictions.

Classes are in groups according to year group and are charged suggested per child.
