VBA programming, get more out of the tools in the MS Office suite and more!

VBA programming, get more out of the tools in the MS Office suite and more!

Microsoft Office is now a virtually indispensable software suite for almost everyone, whether during our school years, through PowerPoint presentations, document creation with MS Word, calculations and graph creation in MS Excel, or during our professional lives. In the latter case, we need to get even more out of it in a minimum amount of time. Some may have noticed that it's possible to automate a series of actions by recording "macros" to save time. But have you ever considered that behind these macros lies computer code generated for you in "Visual Basic for Applications" (VBA)? Understanding this type of code and how it manipulates the "object model" associated with the application being used (for example, the worksheets, rows and columns, cells, and the values they contain, in the case of Microsoft Excel) allows you to go further in terms of automation and flexibility. The course is adaptable to the student and their level. Depending on demand and the number of sessions, it can cover the fundamentals of programming (variables, types, declarations, manipulations, local and global variables, etc.), illustrated using VBA, as well as best programming practices (error handling, using comments, standardizing variable names, code modularity), culminating in the creation of a project enabling interoperability between different Microsoft Office tools (for example, associating notes taken with OneNote with dates in a perpetual calendar created in Excel). It may even cover concepts such as object-oriented programming (polymorphism, encapsulation) and the differences between compiled and interpreted languages. The sky's the limit :))

Learn how to program from beginner to advanced and how to improve your computer skills

Learn how to program from beginner to advanced and how to improve your computer skills

Since early childhood I have been obsessed with computers. All my degrees have been in the domain of computer science from high school to bachelor, master and a PhD in Information Systems I chose not to to finish at the last moment. Instead I chose to co-found a spin-off that became the most successful Belgian tech company, for which I was CTO for years. At university I was a teaching assistant and enjoyed giving hands-on courses very much. My education and experience is pretty broad so it would be laundry list of programming languages, conceptual modelling techniques and database implementations.. But some of my favourites are python, ruby, C/C++ and Java. But trust me the principles are all the same. To be entirely correct, there's procedural, functional, object oriented and prototype based languages If you're an advanced student which I can help you with on how to think in those concepts. I spent every Saturday in the Apple store were my father worked as a child and then added Linux to my repertoire at a later age I tackled unix based operating systems like Linux. So if you are a total beginner to an advanced computer science student, I can help in many ways. Upon request I can show you my resume. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I will be happy to hear from you.

“ I've been studying with Mohamed for several months now, and I can confidently say he is one of the smartest and most effective teachers I've ever worked with. He not only has a deep understanding of Python and Data Science, but he truly knows how to teach. Mohamed has a rare combination of strong technical expertise and outstanding teaching skills. He can explain complex topics in a simple and clear way, and he always chooses examples and exercises that really help you grasp the material. What I value most is his focus on practical application: we don’t get stuck in theory — we move straight to solving tasks that are relevant to real-world work. This makes each lesson extremely useful and efficient 👌🏼 ”

“ Vince and I had two sessions. He listened to what I had in mind instead of imposing his own approach. He's very communicative and a really good teacher who helped me find the right edit that served my objective. He gave me practical guidance on creative editing and also taught me some sound design. He explains things clearly and gives you enough to keep working on your project by yourself afterward. Highly recommend if you're looking for someone who will bring out your creativity, engaging with the intent and making conscious decisions instead of just handing you technical fixes. ”

“ He is a great instructor, I have already had a few lessons and will continue to have lessons with him weekly. He explains everything in a way that is easy to understand and he gives you actual exercises that you can use in real life when it comes to programming. I highly recommend hiring him. ”
