Trusted teacher: Graduate in Performing Arts from TAI University Graduate in Psychology with a Master’s in Music Therapy from UNED Specialized jazz studies at Berklee College of Music and Escuela de Música Creativa Studies in singing styles and vocal physiology at Nina Academia Vocal recovery training with LaxVox at Aurea Speech Therapy Clinic I have been studying opera and classical singing since the age of 12, as well as jazz, choral, and musical theater singing. I have been performing in musicals since 2015. These studies have given me a wealth of tools to adapt to what each student needs and wants, because the most important thing is that we never stop enjoying music. My classes are based on three core principles. The first is having a clear method, rooted in the real functioning of the voice—its physiology (what science tells us about how we use the body to sing)—and applicable to anyone, step by step, with logic. I always prioritize the student’s vocal health and rely on scientifically proven methods. I use simple language, without unnecessary technicalities, so everything is easy to understand and makes sense. The second is the emotional and psychological aspect. For me, connecting with the person in front of me is essential—understanding how they think, how they perceive themselves, what blocks them, and what motivates them. This way, I can adapt the classes to their personality and goals. I try to create a relaxed environment based on respect, trust, and a little humor, where everyone feels free and comfortable. We aren’t all born with the voice we wish we had, but we can all develop what we do have—and on that journey, singing becomes a way to know and accept yourself better. And the third is the dedication and professionalism with which I approach this work, which I am truly passionate about. All classes are divided into a warm-up and vocalization section, followed by work on a chosen piece suited to the student’s level and preferred style. Regardless of style or level, a foundation in classical singing will always be established.

Valentina - Rotterdam59€
Trusted teacher: Ciao! I have been teaching Italian for the past twelve years. I have taught privately and at language schools like La Scuola Italiana del Greenwich Village in New York and ItalCultura, the school of the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. During the first few lessons I will make sure you have the tools to pronounce and identify all the sounds of the Italian language. This step is essential! And it will make everything easier afterwards. When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling. When you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words. I will customize my materials to your interests, needs and desired pace. And because you are learning from a native Italian you will also learn about Italian culture and history. You will absorb a way of thinking, not just grammar rules. I speak a bunch of languages so I know a thing or two about how tedious language classes can be. My terrifying French teacher in middle school made us repeat the same fake dialogue from a really bad book ad nauseam, over and over and over again. Some of those dialogues are carved in my brain: “Bonjour, je m’appelle Richard Drapeau, je viens du Canada, je suis Canadien...” When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling and we will go on “talking walks” because when you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words. I hold a degree in Lingue e Letterature Straniere (Foreign Languages and Literatures) from Università Roma Tre (equivalent to an American MA) and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago. I wrote a thesis about translating a long epic poem by W. H. Auden and I tried to ride a horse across America.

Trusted teacher: If you think of yourself as a foodie, you should take the cooking class with me! You can spend a delicious time and an appetizing experience while enjoying the meal that you just learned how to prepare. They are so good so you will definitely want to make them again. I offer different options for your cooking class depending both on your taste and your budget. The classes are approximately 2 or 3 hours long, including the preparation of the meal and the eating (dinner or lunch). We will decide the dish and the ingredients together each time. <a list of some popular Korean dishes> - pork ribs marinated with soy sauce-based Korean sauce - seasoned beef with lots of veggies (bulgogi) - Stir-fried glass noodle with veggies and meat (Japchae) - Korean sushi with lots of veggies and meat in it (Kimbap) - Rice mixed with various veggies and Korean pepper paste (bibimbap) - Spicy sticky rice cake with veggies (Ddeokbokki) - Crispy fried chicken with sweet-sour sauce (Dakgangjeong) - Stir-fried chicken breast with sweet potato (Dak gaseumsal bokkem) - Korean traditional pumpkin porridge (Hobakjook) - Mushroom pakchoi shabushabu (shabushabu) - Korean black bean noodle with meal and veggies (Jja jang myeon) - Kimchi - Korean curry - Seaweed beef soup (miyeok guk) - Korean new year soup (ddeok guk) - Korean miso soup (dwen jang kuk) During the cooking class, you can not only learn how to make the dishes but also Korean table manners. (How to use chopsticks, how to do cheers etc. It is going to be very interesting as I will also explain the origin of the dish and some behind stories of the dish. My cooking class is also good for vegans as well because there are many good vegan Asian dishes that you would absolutely love. The class will take place basically in my place but it is possible to have it in your place as well :)

Best piano lesson I've ever had! Admittedly, this was also the first lesson I've ever had - however it was every bit as good as I had hoped it would be. Starting at the ripe old age of 35 I was slightly concerned that I might be too old to start, but Deniz made the whole experience very easy to enjoy, and she adapted the lesson around the very little bits I was able to do, while filling in lots of information that I didn't know. Looking forward to carrying on my training and would highly recommend to anyone that's thinking of taking the plunge.

Valentina has been my Italian teacher since February. Since then, I have made great progress in learning Italian! She uses a very good method/book which also allows you to work online. But the best thing is the personal interaction with her, which really makes the difference: the explanation of grammatical stuff, the correct pronouncation and which words to use when and also some background information about Italy and the Italian people. A very pleasant and effective teacher! Alexander
