It's a common misconception that becoming bilingual is as simple as practicing and using tools. Of course, practice is essential, but the heart of the problem lies elsewhere: in your brain. Speaking blocks aren't a lack of skill, but a reaction your brain makes to a situation perceived as dangerous. This is where neuroscience comes in. The mechanism is simple and powerful: Every time you've had a negative experience while practicing English (being mocked, having difficulty, experiencing exam stress), your brain has registered that moment as a danger.
