Oxbridge (Oxford and Cambridge) Application Preparation and Entrance Exam Support (Humanities) in TallinnTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Oxbridge (Oxford and Cambridge) Application Preparation and Entrance Exam Support (Humanities) in TallinnTranslate this text using Google Translate.

The term "Oxbridge" is a collective term that refers to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, the two oldest, wealthiest, and most exclusive educational establishments in the United Kingdom. Both are regularly listed amongst the top universities in the world and entry is correspondingly difficult. The notoriously tough process consists of personal statements, references, interviews, aptitude tests and more. As a recent graduate of the University of Oxford, I am well-versed with the admissions process and have personally experienced the challenges and requirements of gaining admission to these universities. Furthermore, my successful academic background in the humanities has given me a strong foundation to guide students through the rigorous academic expectations that they will encounter when they arrive at their dream university. I am passionate about helping students reach their academic goals. In my time at Oxford, I was an active member of the access community which sought to mentor prospective students. As part of that, I worked with students of all abilities from all over the United Kingdom, providing seminars, lectures, mock interviews and coaching. I was particularly praised for my teaching style and ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. Whilst I offer a structured course for those who want it, which covers the most important aspects of the application process, my tutoring service is bespoke and I am available to provide individual sessions focusing on the areas of your choice. Each session is tailored to the needs of my students. Whether you require the A-Z course, or individual lessons, I will collaborate with the student to devise a plan of action that will give them the best chance to meet their goals. The Course: The Oxford Entrance Preparation Course is designed to prepare students for the rigorous admissions processes of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. It aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and guidance to support them in their applications. Students will gain a deep understanding of the universities, the application process, and what it is like to study at Oxbridge. The course will focus on the key academic and personal qualities that Oxford looks for in its applicants, and how students can develop and showcase these qualities. Requirements: There are few specific prerequisites for this course, but students should have a good command of the English language, a genuine interest in attending the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge, and a passion for studying. It is recommended that students have a very strong academic background, but a good academic background does not necessarily exclude the student from making a successful application. N.b. I cannot guarantee that you or your child will get accepted into Oxbridge (this is subjective and, every year, thousands of deserving students make unsuccessful attempts) but we'll work together to make sure you stand the greatest possible chance of making a successful application.

Zooanthropology, or On Becoming Cultural with Non-human AnimalsTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Zooanthropology, or On Becoming Cultural with Non-human AnimalsTranslate this text using Google Translate.

What if human culture is not exclusively human? Zooanthropology, or On Becoming Cultural with Non-human Animals is an introductory 10-lesson course exploring the relationship between humans and other animals and asking a fundamental question: how much of what we call “culture” has actually emerged through our relationships with other species? The course offers a different perspective. Rather than considering culture an exclusively human achievement, zooanthropology understands it as something that has emerged through relationships, encounters and exchanges between species. Other animals are not simply objects of human knowledge or resources for human development: they are subjects who have influenced, shaped and transformed us. This perspective invites us to reconsider our own position in the world and to question some deeply rooted assumptions about the supposed boundary between humans and other animals. It also encourages us to decentre our perspective and to become more attentive to forms of intelligence, communication, emotion, learning and relationship that do not seem to resemble our own. The course is transdisciplinary, drawing on anthropology, philosophy, ethology and other fields. Along the way, you will encounter concepts such as intersubjectivity, epiphany, hybridisation and epimelesis, among many others. But don't be intimidated by the terminology! No previous knowledge of anthropology, philosophy, ethology or zooanthropology is required. What the course does require is curiosity, an interest in human–nonhuman animal relations, and a willingness to question some familiar ideas and look at the world from a less anthropocentric perspective. Slides and a bibliography will be provided.

Philosophy for understanding the world: classes, dialogue and critical thinkingTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Philosophy for understanding the world: classes, dialogue and critical thinkingTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Philosophy is not about memorizing names, dates, and theories. Philosophizing means learning to ask questions, recognize contradictions, analyze arguments, and better understand the world we live in. I studied Philosophy and History and have spent decades working on philosophical, social, political, and technological issues. I offer one-on-one classes for both students who need a deeper understanding of philosophy and adults who simply want to think, learn, and discuss topics that interest them. We can work on the history of philosophy, texts and authors, logic and argumentation, epistemology, ethics, political philosophy, materialism, philosophy of technology, artificial intelligence, or any other philosophical issue you want to understand or discuss. You can also simply come with a question. No prior knowledge is necessary. We start with what interests you and brainstorm together. My goal isn't to give you ready-made answers or convince you of a particular doctrine. I want to help you develop your own arguments, uncover the assumptions behind an idea, and learn to look at a problem from different perspectives. Classes can be for academic support, exam preparation, introduction to philosophy, or individual philosophical conversation. Classes in Spanish, German or English. Online and, by prior arrangement, in person in Barcelona and Badalona.

Private History Lessons: Understand the past to understand the presentTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Private History Lessons: Understand the past to understand the presentTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Do you struggle to memorize dates, people, and events? Do you feel like history is just an endless accumulation of facts? I'll help you study it in a different way: by understanding the processes, connecting events, and grasping the causes and consequences of what happened. I offer private History lessons for secondary school, high school and university students, fully adapted to the level, subject and needs of each student. My goal is not simply for you to memorize content to pass an exam, but for you to understand History as a process, identify the relationships between different events, and develop a critical and well-founded view of the past and the present world. How can I help you? History for ESO and Bachillerato. History of Spain. History of the Contemporary World. History of Art and related Humanities content. Support in university subjects of History and Humanities. Exam preparation and subject recovery. Understanding and organizing extensive topics. Analysis of causes, consequences, and relationships between historical events. Commentary and analysis of historical sources and documents. Preparation of text commentaries and academic papers. Development of study techniques to better understand and retain the content. I hold a degree in Humanities and have extensive university training in various fields within the Humanities. Furthermore, I have a teaching qualification and teaching experience, which allows me not only to master the subject matter but also to adapt my teaching methods to each student. My multidisciplinary background allows me to approach history by connecting it with philosophy, culture, religion, art, and major social and political processes. This helps events move beyond isolated facts and gain meaning within a broader context.

I’ve had a great experience learning French with my tutor. He is highly knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely committed to helping me improve. His lessons are challenging in a very positive way: he pushes me beyond my comfort zone and encourages me to express myself at a higher level rather than relying on what feels easy or familiar. Although the lessons can be demanding, I’ve found that this approach has benefited my French greatly and has helped me become more confident and capable in the language. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is serious about making real progress in French.
