Hello, My name is Kevin, and I am a passionate guitar player from Austin Texas, based here in Berlin. I grew up studying classical guitar and playing rock guitar (Austin is a great city for rock!) before studying Jazz at the prestigious Thornton School of Music at USC in Los Angeles. I have been performing since the age of six, with solo and group performances in various cities across America, including Los Angeles, New York, and Washington DC. In addition to this, I have been teaching guitar for over 10 years. I am currently furthering my studies at the Universität der Künste Berlin focusing back on my first love, the classical guitar! As a teacher, my focus is always on the individual student: what are your specific passions, strengths, and weaknesses, and what are your goals? How can I tailor our lessons to get us there? How can we have fun? In addition to this, with all my students I work to cultivate a strong and reliable technical ability. A good technique is important. It lays a strong foundation for everything and gives you the tools to truly express yourself musically. I am happy to teach any style (except Reggae because... Nah just kidding) and all experience levels. Beginners are so very welcome! Here are some of my focuses: - Fingerstyle: classical and folk style - Plectrum style, strumming, and single note - Improvisation (and all of its many applications!) - Scales, chords, and arpeggios - Advanced application of music theory - Intuitive understanding of rhythm, along with odd time signatures - Ear training (identifying notes and chords simply by hearing them) - Music reading - Using equipment to craft tones for electric guitar (amps and effects) - Practical understanding of recording software, which is both a wonderful creative tool and vital for professional purposes. I'm a french professional violinist established in Berlin, I'm currently member of the academy of the Radio Orchestra in Berlin and graduated from the Universität der Künste Berlin, Hight school of Music Geneva and Lyon I give violin lessons at home, for students of all levels and ages. I constantly adapt my teaching according to the expectations and objectives of the student, so the technical work that allows to acquire a better ease with the instrument will always be directed towards a musical research and the pleasure of playing music I can also give some basics of music theory, included in a violin class. These courses can be part of the schema of a regular apprenticeship or of one-off sessions (preparation of an exam, support in the personal work of a pupil of a musical institution ...) I consider teaching to be an essential aspect of a musician's life, in order to pass on one's knowledge and passion with pleasure. In my teaching, I implement embodied pedagogy which is a pedagogical approach where the student's own physical and mental/spiritual experiences are at the core of the learning. In the end, musical experience is something that comes from us internally, and my mission is to maximize this experience for you. A little bit about myself: - I'm a classical pianist and pedagogue from Finland. I have a master's degree in music and currently, I'm also doing my second master's at Folkwang Universitär der Künste.
