Hello!
My name is Klara and I am a 19 year old university student currently studying at Hotelschool The Hague. How did I get here? Well, let me tell you. I was born in Germany and raised bilingually (English and German) in the UK. When I was 8, my family moved to Switzerland which is where I picked up French as my third language. In high school I then went on to learn a little bit of Italian and Spanish and now I am in the Netherlands, slowly picking up some useful language tips from the lovely people surrounding me. I have a true passion for languages and truly believe that multilingualism is an extremely valuable skill. My dream is to inspire and motivate others to learn more languages from a young age onwards. I won't lie, it is difficult and demanding but then again, if it was easy then everyone would be able to do it. For children who are fluent English speakers, tutoring can be given to further excel in particular areas. Subjects that interest the student such as science, history or world topics can be incorporated into the lesson to broaden their knowledge. Support can also be provided in learning organizational skills, research, and mini projects for older children. I am available to help with studying, homework, or school projects. For online learning, I use a variety of platforms, websites, educational games, and e-books to reach the learning goals of my students. Additional homework can be provided if requested.

I explain the grammar by giving you the rules and examples from everyday life and from pop music.
We will make exercises from your own workbook to see if you understand it and you can learn from mistakes so that you don't make them again on your test.
We will also practice reading texts from old exams because that will be your final exam later on.
Usually the grades of my tutors go up quickly.

As a French student studying in The Netherlands, at Leiden University, I've been able to hear so many different languages in my everyday life. My name is Louis, I am a 23 years old and am a native English speaker. Before The Netherlands, I have lived in the UK for 16+ years; all of my school education has been in the English taught British school system. This has helped clients in particular, with children in a British school here.

I have designed my classes with the aim of building the basic skills required in holding conversations, succeeding in an English speaking environment but also teaching students who have an advanced level but require extra help (often with the technical side, for example the rules surrounding tenses and other grammatical points).

My classes are light-hearted, relaxed and always interactive. People learn best when they’re enjoying themselves and feeling deeply interested, and that is my promise to you. I will correct your mistakes, but I will never shame or embarrass you for making them. My class is a place where people come to feel good and grow confidence.

You can decide what you want to do in our class. Tell me in advance, and I'll spend time preparing interesting materials. For example:

I'll teach you the differences between formal and informal phrases so that you use them in the right situations. For example, some Dutch people don't know this, but when you want to say "moeten", in English we usually don't say "must". That meaning of "must" is very formal and uncommon in modern spoken English. Instead, say "have to". In 1965, the Queen said "I must go to the lavatory". Everyone else in the 21st century said "I have to go to the toilet."

I know you won't be my student forever, so I want to prepare you for the future. If you hope to get good at English, it's not enough just to have a tutor once a week – the more time you put into learning English, the better and faster you'll get.
