I teach International GCSE and A Level Chemistry (Pearson Edexcel), and over the past few years I’ve worked closely with students who were stuck in that frustrating space between “I kind of get it” and actually achieving high grades. What usually makes the difference is not just content, but how you apply it under exam conditions.

In these sessions, we focus on exactly that. You’ll learn how to approach exam questions with precision, use the correct scientific terminology, and avoid the common mistakes that cost marks, even when your understanding is solid.

We will work through real exam-style questions together, break down mark schemes, and practise how to structure answers so they match exactly what examiners are looking for. There’s also a strong focus on calculations, practical topics like chromatography and titrations, and areas students often struggle with such as bonding, energetics, and organic mechanisms.

By the end, you should feel more confident not just in the content, but in how to perform in the exam itself.

Students should come prepared with a calculator and, if possible, a printed or digital copy of a periodic table.

About Me

I’m a Chemistry teacher with a background in Biochemistry and Biopharmaceutical Sciences, and I’ve spent the last few years teaching International GCSE and A Level Chemistry. I genuinely enjoy helping students move from “I kind of get it” to actually feeling confident in exams, because that’s usually where the biggest difference happens.

My teaching style is very focused on exam technique. We don’t just learn content, we work on how to answer questions in the way examiners expect. That includes using the right terminology, structuring longer answers properly, and showing clear working in calculations. I tend to pick up quite quickly on patterns in mistakes, so lessons often feel very targeted rather than generic.

I work best with students who are willing to engage and improve, even if they’re not feeling confident yet. You don’t need to be “naturally good” at Chemistry. You just need to be consistent and open to feedback.

In lessons, I like to mix explanation with active practice. We’ll go through real exam questions, discuss common mistakes, and build the kind of precision that actually gets marks. I also encourage techniques like blurting and self-marking, because they make revision much more effective.
