Jazz Saxophone & Classical/

Hi, I’m Cassie—a British jazz saxophonist, award-winning composer, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire graduate, now based in Berlin. I’m currently looking for a couple of private saxophone and/or composition students who are keen to develop their skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
Saxophone Lessons:
With a strong background in Jazz and improvised music, I offer saxophone lessons tailored to each student’s needs—whether you’re preparing for ABRSM or Royal College exams (or other equivalent examination boards), exploring jazz improvisation, or just playing for fun. As a performer, I’ve played at major festivals and venues across the UK, USA & Europe such as Glastonbury Festival (UK, SXSW (USA) and Paris Jazz Festival (FR). I am still active as a touring band-leader/artist and I bring that real-world experience into my teaching.
Composition Lessons:
As a classical composer, my work spans orchestral, chamber, and jazz ensemble writing, with commissions from leading arts organisations and orchestras - recent commissions include the London Symphony Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic. My lessons focus on notation, orchestration, and arranging—whether you’re composing for small ensembles or larger-scale works. I hold a BMus Hons degree in composition from Trinity Laban Conservatoire (London) where I studied with American composer Stephen Montague and British composer Andrew Poppy.
Composition lessons I am able to teach both in-person and online via Zoom.

- If you are already working on particular pieces or from certain books, please share this information so that I can prepare in advance.
- I would also recommend bringing your own manuscript and notebook (+pen/pencil) to take notes/practice logs.

As a composer and actively performing artist, teaching is an integral part of my musical journey. I enjoy helping students develop their own creative voices—whether through saxophone, improvisation, or composition. Music education is important to me because it provides the tools for self-expression, confidence, and artistic growth.

Beyond private teaching, I have led community and educational projects that celebrate collaboration and accessibility in music. In 2020 and 2021, I arranged and conducted a community ensemble for EFG London Jazz Festival’s She is Jazz: Womxn Make Music performances at the prestigious London venues Southbank Centre and King’s Place.

Arranging work includes compositions for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and continuing to write for me eleven-piece touring ensemble "seed." in which I also perform as an alto-saxophonist.
