About Me
My name is Zoë, I was born and raised in the UK. I lived in Northamptonshire before moving to Scotland and attending the University of Stirling where I studied English and French.
With my Bachelor's degree in hand, I spent a year in Glasgow, then I came to France, in Paris, where I worked as an English Assistant at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. It was also an opportunity for me to teach English phonetics and give private lessons to students. After this year at university, I worked as a bilingual Executive Assistant, also in Paris, before joining a translation agency as a Project Manager. That's where I discovered a passion for translation. Two years later, I became a freelance translator. Since 2001, I have worked as a translator from French to English, and - more occasionally - as a copywriter.
In 2022, I decided to take my career in a new direction. Goal: to have more contact with people and share my passion for languages and their teaching.
It is with this in mind that I followed a CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) training which then allowed me to start teaching English to adults and children, alongside my translation work. Bilingual (or almost!) and rich in my experience in the world of translation, it is easy for me to explain things in French if necessary, and to offer instant translations! I am, in a way, a walking dictionary 😊.
