Psychology Bachelor and Mathematics student learns mathematical thinking: private mathematics lessons for university and secondary school.

Psychology Bachelor and Mathematics student learns mathematical thinking: private mathematics lessons for university and secondary school.

*English version below* Mathematics only becomes truly manageable when you know how to tackle a problem. I help you solve problems independently, so that you can master your subject, as well as all the mathematics that follows. My approach We work through the thinking process together, so you discover the solution yourself. No ready-made answers, but the right questions and hints at the right time. This way, you build the skills and confidence step by step to tackle mathematics independently. Soon, mathematics becomes much less difficult and intimidating, and after a while, even fun! The power of private lessons is more time and more personalization: your questions, your pace, focus on what you need. A session feels like a collaboration. Thinking out loud, trying something out, making a mistake and starting over: it is all part of the process. My method is based on insights from learning psychology, in particular the model of cognitive apprenticeship (Collins, Brown & Newman, 1989). The idea is simple: first, I make visible how a mathematician thinks, and then I pass that thought process on to you step by step. How a lesson proceeds A standard lesson lasts two hours. True understanding takes time, and two hours gives us the space to thoroughly explore problems. One-hour lessons are also possible upon request. Before the lesson, send me the questions and exercises you are stuck on. I will prepare them so we can get started right away. During the lesson, we work through your material together: exercises, theory, and proofs. You think, I provide guidance. After the lesson, you will receive a concise summary and a few questions to work on yourself. About me I am studying mathematics at KU Leuven and previously obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology. I offer support in probability and statistics, (linear) algebra and analysis at the university level, and in all secondary education mathematics. Outside of mathematics, I enjoy bouldering, classical piano, and studying Japanese. I also really love being in nature. English: I help you become an independent problem solver. Once you learn how to approach a problem, your course becomes manageable, and so does any mathematics you meet after it. My philosophy We work through the thinking process together, and with the right hints and nudges, you will be the one finding the answers! This gives you the tools to do mathematics on your own. As you gain confidence, the subject gets a lot less difficult and intimidating. It will even become fun! Private tutoring lets me build everything around you: your questions, your pace, your sticking points. Our sessions are a collaboration, two people figuring out the mathematics together, where thinking out loud and trying out ideas is encouraged. My method is grounded in learning psychology, specifically the framework of cognitive apprenticeship (Collins, Brown & Newman, 1989), which focuses on making expert thinking visible and gradually handing it over to the learner. A standard session Sessions last 2 hours by default. Real understanding takes time to build, and a two-hour block gives us room to work through problems in depth. One-hour sessions are possible on request. Before: you send me the specific questions and problems you've run into. I prepare them in advance, so our time goes to working on them rather than me reading them for the first time. During: we work through your material together, with you doing the thinking and guiding me. This can be exercises, theory, proofs, etc. After: you get a written recap of the session plus a few guiding questions to keep you moving in your own study. About me I'm a mathematics student at KU Leuven, and I previously completed a bachelor's degree in psychology. I tutor probability and statistics, (linear) algebra and calculus/analysis at university level and any secondary school mathematics. Outside of math, I boulder, play classical piano and study Japanese. I also love spending time in nature.

From beginner to 1500+: targeted chess coaching by a 2000+ chess.com rapid player.

Take your chess game to the next level. Do you no longer want to just make moves, but understand why a move works? Are you stuck at a certain rating level, or do you want to make fewer blunders and sit at the board with more confidence? As an active 2000+ Rapid player on Chess.com, I help beginners and intermediate players (0 – 1600 rating) improve their game, using tips that have helped me tremendously as well. No dry book knowledge or endless theoretical variations, but practical insights that you can apply directly to your own games. What can you expect from the lessons? We start by determining your current level, then we move on to various aspects of the game. In-depth game analysis: We analyze your own (lost) games on Chess.com or Lichess. We identify your recurring mistakes and turn them into learning opportunities. Tactics & Board Vision: Learn to recognize patterns faster, avoid recurring blunders, and capitalize on the tactical opportunities your opponent misses. Middlegame & Positional Play: Understand how to make a plan when there is no direct tactic. Learn to work with bishop pairs, open lines, and weak squares. Handy opening repertoire: No need to memorize dozens of moves, but understand the core ideas and plans behind your favorite openings. Who is this lesson suitable for? Beginners (0 - 1000): You know the rules and the basics, but want to build a solid foundation without drowning in complicated theory. Intermediate (1000 - 1600): You play online regularly, but feel stuck at a rating ceiling and want to progress. About me: I only started playing chess myself at the age of 14 or 15 and quickly developed a passion for the board game. Since then, I have immersed myself in it and achieved an active Chess.com Rapid rating of 2050, placing me in the top 0.2% of the platform. I know from personal experience what it is like to break through the various rating barriers. My approach is patient, accessible, and fully tailored to your personal learning goals. If you are interested, you can always send me a message/email, hopefully see you soon :)

Your first steps on the violin and music, learn at your own pace!

Your first steps on the violin and music, learn at your own pace!

Hi! I'm Aitana, a professional violinist and currently based in Leuven. I started playing the violin when I was 4 years old, and since then music has been a big part of my life. I studied violin at a higher-education level in Spain and Belgium, and I recently completed my Master's Degree in Violin Performance at LUCA School of Arts in Leuven, graduating Cum Laude. I have also performed with different orchestras and musical projects in Belgium and abroad. I have experience teaching violin to children, beginners and students who already have some experience with the instrument. I also enjoy helping students with music theory, reading music, rhythm and ear training. For me, learning an instrument should be more than just practicing the right notes. Of course, technique is important, but I also want my students to understand the music, feel comfortable with the instrument and, most importantly, enjoy playing it! I always try to adapt my lessons to the student. Some people learn better through games and practical exercises, while others prefer to understand exactly how and why something works. We can also choose music together depending on your interests. Whether you are starting from scratch, learning violin for fun, preparing for an exam or audition, or simply looking to improve your playing, I would be happy to help you. No previous experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity and your love for music!

“ Anne is a teacher that prepares her lessons in advance. You get a lot of attention as a student and I really felt welcomed from the first minute. Anne is very clear in her communication and organisation (and this also encompasses how she guides you towards the first lesson, making sure all is clear). It is clear that she has a profound knowledge of the Japanese language as well as the didactical methods to teach it. What I appreciated was her openness and the fact that you can shape the lessons to make them fit with your personal goals you have for studying Japanese, whatever they might be. I definitely recommend working with Anne! ”

“ I am grateful for the outstanding support and guidance provided by Tanguy to my child. My child's homework during his vacation has become much easier and has helped my child a lot. Tanguy's patience and clear teaching made him to complete his activities on time. My child enjoys learning with Tanguy, and we really appreciate everything you do! I highly recommend Tanguy to anyone looking for a great tutor. ”

“ I’ve only taken 2 classes with Frederic so far but I am very pleased. He really knows his music and he teaches theory along with how to play songs. I am really interested in learning about music and not just about strumming a few tunes. His knowledge of music is immense and I’m very happy with his classes so far. I would highly recommend him for those people who really want to study music seriously. ”
