Singing and Music Theory classes for aspiring musicians!

Using jazz music as my specialism, I am able to teach even the most technically challenging concepts in their most basic forms and transfer them to the guitar in their most simple terms. I have taught the guitar, music theory and GCSE and A-Level Music syllabuses for six years to students of all ages and abilities and across every imaginable genre.

I teach theory for all grades, specialising in ABRSM theory. I have access to many past papers. I have also created exercises to help my students. When a students stuggle with an exercise, I create exercises to help master it. Theory should be easy! I aim to have students take Grade 5 theory in 2 terms. About Me I am a friendly teacher, who will help you achieve your desired goal for music theory. I have been teaching live for 15 years, and online for 8 years. As long as your internet connection is good, skype can be almost as good as being in the same room. I have studied with many of the leading teachers in Europe and the USA. I started my education at Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music (London), where I studied with James Sleigh for five years. I was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, and the National Youth Strings Academy. I the studied my Bachelor of Music at the Royal College of Music (London), where I studied with Andriy Viytovych. I have a Masters of Music from Trinity Laban College of Music and Dance (London), studying under Roger Chase, and a Masters in Fine Art from Gothenburg University (Sweden) with Øvyor Volle (Vertavo Quartet). I also studied in the USA at the Manhattan School of Music, New York, and Chicago College of Performing Arts. I work as a professional viola player across the UK and Scandinavia, with such orchestras as Swedish Radio Orchestra, Stockholm Philharmonic, Bergen, Norwegian Radio, Gothenburg Symphony, Norrkoping Symphony, Jonkoping Sinfonietta, Aarhus Symphony, and English National Ballet Philharmonic. I am also a music arranger and transcriber. I can give lessons once or twice a week. Please note that twice a week does allow for fast progression. Lessons can be at my home in Stockholm, or online. Hi, I’m Sarah! I am both an Opera Singer and a classroom Music Teacher. My love for teaching and singing have always lived side by side. I constantly seek any opportunity to share my passion, whether that be in front of an audience or a classroom of students. I have always loved expressing myself through music, regardless of the genre. In fact, in a past life, I really wanted to be a country singer. I'm available to teach any level of Music Theory from Grade 1-8, or provide any help with GCSE or A-Level Music exams. I can also give lessons on Aural and Sight-reading if desired. In this class we can cover the basics of Music Theory, or prepare students for Grade 5 exams or other assesments.

In this class, we'll be looking at the necessary building blocks of the modern guitarist. These topics will include chords, melody, guitar technique, composition and improvisation. Whether you look to implement these skills in jazz or rock, the skills learnt here are applicable to all genres of music.

I’m a professional musician who studied on the highly regarded jazz course at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance; whilst at Trinity I also studied Flute with members of some of London’s prestigious orchestras. I've performed all over London at well known venues like Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and The South Bank Centre but also played around in the city in jazz clubs like Kansas Smitty’s and Olivers. As well as performing in London I’ve played all around the UK and abroad at festivals such as the New Generations Festival in Florence (playing with American jazz artists such as Dominic Farinacci and Dan Tepfer). I’m also a highly experienced and regard teacher having taught all the way from university level to primary school. My teaching adapts to the pupil after we identify the areas we want to and wish to work on but also aspects of playing i think you need to improve or will be good to work on. I can also provide theory lessons

With over 10 years of experience in teaching piano across many different genres, from classical to jazz and pop, I can help you in many different areas of piano performance. I cater my teaching for students of varying ages and abilities and can help you whether you are working towards a music exam or want to learn how to improvise on the piano. I also have a BMus music degree from the University of Cardiff and work regularly as a professional pianist and keyboardist. Along with this, I have also taught music theory from the basics of understanding musical notation to advanced harmonic analysis. I specialise in tutoring music from beginner level to secondary school, having taught in the classroom up to IB and A Level music. I have taught composition and music technology coursework in these higher level studies and have had students attain a place at Oxford University to read music. No matter if you are a performer, composer, or academic musician, a solid grasp on music theory is extremely important. I am a professional opera singer, currently studying a Master's at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Having performed numerous operas, oratorios and song recitals, I have a in depth and far reaching knowledge of the classical vocal repertoire and a good command of the musical theatre repertoire. Whether you are using it professionally or for fun, I am a strong believer that establishing excellent technique is essential to developing a voice. I work from the premise that no two voices are the same and I tailor lessons to suit my students. We will work on technique, repertoire, interpretation and, where appropriate, language skills. Together, we can work on building a healthy voice and compiling a book of repertoire to help you prepare for exams or recitals. The aim of a lesson is to achieve vocal freedom, which will allow the student to approach repertoire healthily and confidently without fear of the voice giving out. Whatever age, skill level or intention for using the voice, this will ultimately make singing more enjoyable! I have experience coaching choirs and working with young people, particularly with Cambiata North West.
