Trusted teacher: Blues Guitar and Blues Piano Lessons Delta Blues, Texas Blues, Piedmont Blues, West Coast Blues, Chicago Blues, Boogie Woogie, Barrelhouse, Jazz Blues If you want to learn to play the blues or expand your knowledge, you've come to the right place. Lessons are taught in a relaxed yet serious setting. I have a greater affinity for traditional blues than blues rock. You don't necessarily need to be able to read music, either for guitar or piano. I can teach you (the basics of) sheet music on the piano and explain the tablature system for guitar. You certainly don't have to follow the music stave religiously; finding the right feel and trying to improvise are more important and central. Recognize and understand the blues patterns: 8 bars, 12 bars, 16 bars, ragtime blues, and all its variations. A suitable schedule is made for each student personally. I'll determine what works best for you as an individual and, in consultation with you, develop a lesson plan based on that. For example, you can choose the songs you want to play and the techniques you'd like to learn/improve. I also know which instructional materials are most suitable for you and can draw from a substantial blues library, available in book, audio, and video formats. Acoustic Guitar Blues Fingerstyle, Travis picking, monotone bass, playing a bass line and melody notes at the same time, hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, double stops, heel damping, playing with a thumb pick and capo, mastering the country blues positions (C, D, E, G, A) and possibly alternative tunings (e.g. Vestapol and Drop D). Learn to play in the style of Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Blake, Blind Boy Fuller, Charley Patton, Brownie McGhee, Robert Johnson, Mance Lipscomb, etc. Electric Guitar Blues Pentatonic scales, blues ladders, blues boxes, blues chords/rhythms/licks/trills/riffs/turnarounds, phrasing, call and response, bending, vibrato, timing, dynamics. Learn to play in the style of BB King, Albert King, Freddie King, Otis Rush, T-Bone Walker, Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Michael Bloomfield and more. Piano Blues Left hand patterns (eight to the bar, shuffles, walking bass, ascending and descending), tremolos, rolls, grace notes, drone notes, intros and outros, breaks, crossovers, comping, arpeggios, octaves, intervals (thirds and sixths), blues chords (6, 7 and 9) and their inversions. Learn to play in the style of Otis Spann, Memphis Slim, Big Maceo, Champion Jack Dupree, Pete Johnson, Albert Ammons, Dr. John, etc. For both beginners and advanced students and all ages. Lessons in Dutch or English are possible. You can choose the lesson duration and frequency yourself. Feel free to send a message for more information and questions.

Piano lessons - music theory and harmony - for any level (Turin)
Giorgia

I started my lessons with Giorgia four months ago, and I am so glad to have found her. As a 26-year-old beginner, I was not sure if I should even try to pursue learning an instrument at this point. But now I am so glad I did! I am learning online, and I was a little unsure of how lessons via webcam would go. Despite my prejudice, everything turned out great, even though my setup is quite basic. Her approach to teaching is very creative. She is able to explain things that seem hard to put into words, and she always finds comparisons and descriptions that convey clearly little details of approach that make a lot of difference in the end result. For any difficulty I encountered, she presented methods of exercise that helped correct it. Another thing that I appreciate is that from one lesson to the next, the volume of work is challenging enough that I feel I am making progress, but not to the point that I am overwhelmed. Also, even though I am just beginning and the pieces are not that complex, she explains the musical interpretation in a way that not only helps me advance my skill but also enriches the way I understand and listen to music, and I find great value in that. Her manner of teaching is very organic, and she is a patient teacher with a warm presence. I wholeheartedly recommend her lessons!

David

I had previously played some classical for a few years, but was looking to learn jazz piano and improvisation as well. For this David is ideal, as he studied both as a classical and jazz musician, and has a deep understanding of each. About half the lessons we focus on jazz improvisation. During the lessons I improvise over a few songs, and each session he gives feedback, while adding a new layer of difficulty. We've also worked a lot on rhythm, which has really helped me bridge the gap between classical and jazz. We spent a few lessons on classical pieces as well, to refine technique and musicality. My playing feels much more fluid and musical already, and he's really helpful/knowledgeable with the details. Also, on the weeks where I did have not had much time to practice, we do a more (jazz) theory oriented lesson, which has also helped alot with my improvisation. Overall, I only have positive things to say about the lessons! David is a very easy-going teacher, and from the first lesson I felt very comfortable asking him questions. He's very versatile as well, and easily adapts the lesson according to what suits us best that week.

Mary

Mary has been great in our interactions. At the moment, we are meeting twice a week for an hour each session. She started with a class in which we got to know each other and she listen to my goals. Then, she prepared exercises and lessons specially designed to help me reach those goals with practice and also prepared lessons to help me continue growing as a guitar player. Moreover, she goes often out of her way to get songs challenging to my level, but that are doable with enough practice. In all, I am enjoying quite a lot of our classes and I am always looking forward to them.
