Online English Tutoring - American, Canadian, and/ or British English
From 28.23 Fr /h
Greetings! My name is Anne, and I love working with people from different countries, backgrounds, and age groups.
I am a native English speaker (with a neutral North American accent) who has had the privilege of living in 5 different countries so far. I am proficient in American, Canadian, and British English—I can teach one style or a mix of all three! This includes differences in pronunciation, conversational English (sentence structure and common phrases), grammar, spelling, and academic/professional communication. I also help students understand cultural nuances, including the fine art of mastering direct versus indirect communication.
I have also dabbled in a bit of Aussie slang during my time in Australia—which may not always be practical, but is heaps fun to know if you are keen (that was very Aussie English there)!
My specialty is helping learners develop an English accent that is clear and easily understood worldwide (avoiding thick, muffled, or fast accents).
I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from one of the top business schools in Canada and have been working in the non-profit sector since graduating. Therefore, I am also able to help you improve your professional communication skills, including speaking, writing, interviewing, etiquette, body language, and understanding the nuances of different business settings.
Having had the privilege of working with people from approximately 45% of the world’s nationalities thus far, I am very familiar with differences in culture around the world, and how to navigate transitioning between them smoothly (aka code switching)!
My first business was a home tutoring service that I started in high school, teaching English and Math. I have lots of experience working with children, youth, and young adults from around the world, and am friendly, caring, patient, and encouraging in my teaching approach.
My lessons are tailored to your specific needs and goals, and my 'starter‐finisher' personality will help you reach them—at your own pace! They are practical (drawing on real-world experience), interactive, engaging, and, most importantly, fun! I will not give up on you (no matter where you are starting from) because I deeply enjoy helping people build confidence—not just in English, but in themselves.
I look forward to meeting you!
