For kids, most of my classes include learning some grammar and vocabulary, but I really try to focus on natural learning through speaking, listening, and playing games. My classes are not a cram school. We don't use books here. Most of the time we use flashcards and we might use some prints depending on what is being taught. I want to teach the joy of using English for real life communication and have fun doing it :)

For at home study, I give homework that is age and level appropriate.

About Me

Hello! My name is Dan and I'm an ex-pro surfer from Jupiter, Florida in the USA. Currently, I'm married and living in Nagano City, Japan. I've lived here for almost 10 years now. It's a big change going from an all year hot place to a cold place, but I like it. I love nature and the outdoors. Unfortunately I can't surf here in Nagano so I drive to Niigata. One of my recent hobbies that I love to do is taking pictures of space using my telescope and a special camera. If we have a class together please ask me about it!

Over the time that I've lived here, I've been teaching conversational English at numerous Eikaiwa schools. I teach elementary schools kids, Junior high school kids, high school kids, and even adults in their 60s to 80s. Also, I do "free-talk" classes where my students and I talk about anything and everything. Any age is OK! Its really fun! I also have my own car detailing shop here in Amori Koichi. I wash cars, do polishing, body coatings, window coatings, and wheel coatings. I love making cars look beautiful!

I have an American High School Diploma. I never attended college or studied any particular subjects. I started my own boat detailing business when I lived in Florida and successfully ran it for 15 years before moving to Japan. I also traveled and surfed in some professional contests in my younger years. My education comes in the form of owning and operating a business.

For adults, I offer in-person "Free Talk" classes. These classes are very popular and are ok for any age. If you want to talk about daily life, news, hobbies, traveling, etc. and enjoy speaking English, then this is a good class to do it. Usually a 1-hour class is best as it gives plenty of time. If a shorter, or longer, class is better for you I can do that too. Just ask :)
