To define crime and criminal psychology.
Before we go on to consider the work of the criminal psychologist, let us first
consider, what exactly is crime? You may think you know the answer to that, but as
with most things, it is not as simple as we might first think.

Definitions of Crime
In psychology, there are three theories that are the most widespread approaches to
defining crime. There are other approaches, but as these are the most widely
accepted, we will consider those here !

Experiencia / Calificaciones
Over my 20 years of dedicated service in the prison sector, I have cultivated and applied a deep expertise in psychology, focusing on the psychological principles that underpin behavior and effective interventions aimed at rehabilitation. My commitment to incorporating evidence-based practices in criminal psychology is unwavering. I leverage Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to elucidate the interplay between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as Prochaska’s Stages of Change model to seamlessly guide inmates and staff through critical stages: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance.

Moreover, I utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques to identify and dismantle barriers to behavior change and apply Pro-Social Modeling to encourage meaningful behavioral shifts. My goal is to ensure that interventions are not only practical but also deeply empathetic. As Curriculum Manager, I spearheaded initiatives focused on the psychological and physical well-being of both staff and inmates. Leading a dedicated team within the Sport Studies Curriculum, Health & Wellbeing Programme, and the Healthy Living Team, I implemented active learning processes that fundamentally transformed educational delivery in the prison environment.

My influence extends beyond my department as I embraced the role of Champion of Best Practice. I have had the privilege of presenting professional development seminars and keynote addresses to audiences of up to 300 delegates across the Prison Directorate. These impactful sessions delve into essential topics in criminal psychology, including stress management for both staff and inmates, applications of CBT, and effective techniques for Motivational Interviewing, equipping all participants with valuable tools for success.
