Besides my studies I have been actively performing, recording and teaching since age 16, which led me to play at different festivals and venues such as North Sea Jazz, JazzOpen Stuttgart, Bimhuis, DeDoelen Rotterdam. I'm calm and easy going and I want to pass on the knowledge I got from my teachers as well as my own experience. An instrument that combines musicality and strong groove? An instrument that is easy from the first move? Percussion is the spark that makes you behoove! I am Keith, a Hong Kong percussionist based in Amsterdam and currently finishing my master degree in the Conservatory van Amsterdam. I have won several major international competitions and have great experience in performing. I have also taught privately and conducted masterclasses to inspire the next generation of percussionists. The best thing of being a percussionist is that you can play and find music anytime anywhere! Whether if it's a timpani or your comb, you can produce so many different sounds and exciting rhythm. With one technique, you can almost play anything! If you are a total beginner with music, percussion is one of the easiest way into it. Instruments sound nice already when you play them. Lessons start from knowing the pulse and developing your groove, to knowing the notes and establishing basic musicality. Then slowly you will explore the vast sound world of percussion, starting with drums, mallets instrument or any objects that you can think of! A: With similar technique, you can play mallets instruments like marimba which has a warm healing sound, or orchestral instruments like triangle or tambourine. And with the rhythmic sense from learning drum set, you can literally play groove in the world, no matter if it is latin or asian or middle east! The sky is the limit! Accordion is beautiful and interesting instrument which can play many genres in music (classical, jazz, rock, folk...). It ́s not only solo instrument but you can see and hear it also in chamber group with all other instruments. If you are interested in playing accordion, don ́t hesitate and let ́s start to play! It ́s a lot of fun and very cool. I give lesson 60 minutes and for the beginning I use my own materials, but if someone has already some tutor book I don ́t see any problem. I always ask what people want to play, what kind of music they like or what is their reason and goal. Don't want to just throw away your beloved broken or ill-fitting clothes? But can't figure it out yourself? With a few simple steps, they get a well-deserved second life, and often without a sewing machine! Repairing and altering clothes is wonderfully sustainable, good for your wallet, and also wonderfully zen to do. What are you learning? We will work specifically on the garments that you bring yourself and/or the techniques that you want to learn yourself. Taking into account the time and your own possibilities/sewing level, we will try to make your clothing wearable again. You will receive personal advice and learn specific techniques to tackle the problems with the clothing you brought. You will also learn about materials and tools that you can use to repair and adjust clothing. At the end of the lesson, you will have made one or more garments wearable again and learned a lot of techniques that you can continue to apply at home on broken and ill-fitting garments. If you choose to book a series of multiple lessons, I can offer you a full clothing repair course, covering as many clothing repair techniques as possible. At the end of each lesson you will receive a handout to take home, which explains the techniques again. What are you bringing? Clothing with torn seams or loose hems, stains, holes, tears, broken zippers, missing buttons or hooks. Clothing that is too big or too small in the waist, too long or too short in the hem, etc. If you have some sewing supplies at home, you can bring them along: needles, pins, thread, scissors, tape measure and seam ripper. If you don't have any, don't worry, all the necessary tools are available. And if you want to continue working at home, you can buy a Mending Kit from the teacher on the spot. There are also (vintage) haberdashery and materials for sale.
