Vanuit mijn studio bij de Berlagebrug geef ik pianoles aan beginners en (half-)gevorderden. De lessen vinden plaats aan een Yamaha vleugel en wanneer een stuk goed in de vingers zit, kunnen we daar dus een professionele opname van maken.

Zelf ben ik in 1992 als docerend musicus afgestudeerd aan het Hilversum's Conservatorium (tegenwoordig Conservatorium van Amsterdam) in de richting lichte muziek, oftewel jazz en pop. Dus bij mij leer je niet alleen noten lezen, maar ook akkoordenschema's en -als je wilt- improvisatie. Of we zoeken samen een liedje uit dat je graag wilt spelen en maken daar een mooie bewerking van. We kijken samen eerst naar wat je precies wilt leren en stemmen daar de lesstof op af.

Ook kan ik je helpen bij het leren componeren en produceren. Ik werk met Pro Tools en Logic Pro X.

Voor klassiek pianoles verwijs ik je liever door naar iemand anders.

Ik ben in 1992 als pianist LM afgestudeerd aan het Hilversums Conservatorium. Vanaf deze periode tot op heden heb ik altijd veel pianoles gegeven. Meestal privé, maar ook op een aantal muziekscholen. En zowel aan kinderen als volwassenen. Momenteel geef ik privéles en op de Muziekschool Badhoevedorp, en daarnaast doceer ik één middag per week aan het Conservatorium in Haarlem (compositie bij beeld).
Ook speelde in allerlei bands met verschillend repertoire (pop, jazz, R&B, funk, rock en Braziliaans) en bracht ik veel tijd door in studio’s om te spelen en te produceren.
Vlak na het conservatorium ben ik –naast deze werkzaamheden- ook begonnen met het componeren en produceren van muziek voor artiesten en voor TV commercials en leaders, iets wat ik nog steeds met veel plezier doe.
Mijn hart ligt bij de jazz en popmuziek, in de breedste zin des woords, maar aangezien ik ook jarenlang klassiek les heb gehad kan ik wat eenvoudiger klassiek ook prima doceren. Bij het lesgeven ga ik uit van de interesse van de leerling en stel daar het lesprogramma zoveel mogelijk op af, naast de zaken die de leerlingen sowieso moeten leren beheersen, zoals solfege, van blad lezen, techniek, e.d. Ik stimuleer zo veel mogelijk dat ze zelf met liedjes komen die ze willen spelen en als ze het leuk vinden leer ik ze akkoorden spelen en lezen en improviseren. En sommige leerlingen leer ik ook met Pro Tools of Logic werken. Voorop staat dat ze met plezier naar de lessen komen en geïnspireerd weer naar huis gaan!

Bij mij kun je terecht voor vioolles, folklore, jazz (theorie), improvisatie technieken en ensemble coaching.

De lessen zijn afgestemd op het profiel van elke leerling, ongeacht leeftijd, verwachtingsniveau (het maakt niet uit of het gezien wordt als hobby of dat de leerling zich voorbereidt op officiële audities voor het conservatorium, etc.).

We zullen spelen en/of ons richten op waar de student zich in wil verdiepen (welke muziekstijl ze ook interesseren, meer theoretische aspecten of juist praktische aspecten). We proberen zo veel mogelijk te profiteren van de gewerkte tijd en geven prioriteit aan het daadwerkelijke leerproces van de persoon als belangrijkste factor voor hun motivatie.

In juni 2022 heb ik mijn masteropleiding Jazzmuziek aan het Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen afgerond.
Eerder, in 2018, behaalde ik mijn bachelordiploma muziek aan het Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona (Spanje).

My teaching method meets the student's needs. Above all, I try to make people keep their passion and taste for music and my main goal is to make music or art a pleasure and not a sacrifice.

I motivate students, showing them the benefits of exploring their unique talents, but also not hiding the need for continuous work and with some obstacles, sometimes difficult, to overcome.

I let the students bring their own musical choices and, over time, I also recommend material that I think may be useful for a faster, simpler, and more efficient evolution.
As I said, I focus on the pleasure of singing but also on the technique that allows us to achieve the best results with less effort.
I hope that my way of teaching will work with you, but we always have to adapt to the needs and personalities of each one.

The lessons will delve into both the technical and musical aspects of piano playing, theory, reading music, harmony, ear training, technique, pedagogy and more. My aim is to equip students to understand different music styles, build confidence, discover their unique voice and continue their musical journey independently. As Thelonious Monk said, the piano ain’t got no wrong notes.

I'm passionate about traversing genres since I have studied both jazz and classical to a high level, making this class perfect for creative pianists and composers who want to go beyond reading music off a piece of paper. Trinity/ABRSM curriculum upto Grade 8, can also be optionally included. Teaching effective practice methods is a priority, ensuring students progress confidently and without leaning on me. Please note, I only teach in person to maintain high standards of guidance in technique. This is not possible via video conferencing. Since everyone asks: yes, I did study at Berklee College of Music as an undergraduate for some time, and I do help students out with their audition preparation for various music colleges!

Music is Play! and everyone is it's own game.
Read, understand and make only the music you like. I think if it isn't fun, it can't be music:)

I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music. It's longer than 9 years now!
Most of my students learn piano. With the starter ones, I use my own system to equally help them grow all the needed skills: body consciousness (to avoid lesions or bad habits), music theory (including writing and reading) and improvisation.
Usually most songs are made of melody, chords and rhythm. From there, I can help you understand how a song works, how is it written, how does it translate to the piano... and voilá! You'll know the song by heart, and will be able to play it a bit different every time, because you won't be following a set of pre-imposed instructions. You will understand how a small system (a song) works.
This way of learning can be applied to any song, from any century or style. Understanding is key! Play Chopin, write rock songs, play Monk, Bill Evans, the Beatles, make a lo-fi beat, play Beethoven, play the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars, play video game music, play salsa! bachata and make people dance, laugh or cry.
Music is very powerful!

PD: I have also experience imparting electronic music lessons in Ableton Live and Max MSP, which is now a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create a any kind of path between piano, synths, beats and home studio techniques.

My name is Enrique and I come from Andalucía, Spain. I am a Classical Piano student at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and I would be pleased to be your teacher. Hello! I’m Leticia, a professional soprano from Cuba, now living in Amsterdam. I’ve spent years teaching at the National Conservatory of Music in Cuba, performing as a soloist, with choirs, and in ensembles of various formats, sharing stages nationally and internationally. My experience spans classical, jazz, salsa, and traditional Cuban music

I’ve just arrived in Amsterdam and I’ve recently started learning Dutch and I am getting more confident in English. Even though I’m working on many personal goals, what truly drives me is the desire to work especially in the field I love and have dedicated so many years of my life to, helping students of all ages discover their musical voice, whether it’s singing, playing piano, or understanding music theory.
