"Teaching is an art. In my opinion, the diploma and the knowledge, alone, are not enough to make a person a good teacher. There is a whole art, based on a large part of social intelligence, which brings into play the following skills: listening, empathy, understanding, adaptation and pedagogy." I am an engineer, graduated from the Free University of Brussels. My experience in the field of private lessons began during my university studies where I provided a few hours of help with success in a homework school. Realizing the passion I had for teaching, I subsequently began giving private lessons to high school students. Quickly, my diary filled up and the results followed. 100% of the students I followed succeeded. Thanks to my work, students who were “doomed” to fail succeeded in their year. Today, I am an analyst engineer and project manager in a large company. However, I also provide private teaching in mathematics, physics, chemistry and English. I teach students from 1st secondary to 2nd University. I also help with the correction of end-of-study work, dissertations, essays, whether through critical and careful reading, correction of mistakes, reformulation, etc. NB: I can exceptionally consider the request for lower level courses (primary), but only if my availability allows it. What is my approach? My approach is multifactorial. Success is complex. There is obviously the student's work, but there is also motivation, well-being, and the feeling of being understood and not judged. Firstly, I will reassure the student by making him understand that mathematics, physics, in short... school is not difficult. This deconstruction is crucial. This will be done in parallel with in-depth work on the material. The one and only goal: success.

Hi, I’m Ross, an analyst and policy advisor for the UK civil service, currently on a yearlong career break. I’ve been a maths tutor on and off since I was a university student. I’m offering virtual tuition and I’m very flexible with which days for the week and time of day. I have a BSc in Economics and A Level Mathematics and have experience as a teaching assistant at a Secondary School, supporting KS3 and GCSE students and specifically supporting neurodiverse students. I have been working in analysis, applying mathematics and economic skills for 8 years since graduating. I have very positive 1:1 tuition experience with students at KS3 and GCSE level. I have supported students who struggle with mathematics and need support navigating basics, as well as supporting students who are looking to stretch and excel, aiming for the highest grades. My approach is very flexible and patient. I am happy to be led by the student’s needs, working alongside their school curriculum, reviewing work and supporting with homework. I’m equally happy preparing work and exercises based on my assessment of their needs. I have experience tutoring maths, however my academic experience with economics and geography means I’m more than happy and capable supporting these subject including at A Level standard. Also happy to provide examination practice for 11+ and applications for University and navigating the UCAS process. I am happy also to provide career advice and share my public sector experience to now. Please enquire if there are specific subjects/processes you are looking for support with.
