I offer private piano lessons to students of different ages and levels. Depending on the student's final goal we adjust the repertoire and skills that are needed for obtaining the goal. My goal as a teacher is to keep and increase the students' love for music as well as to offer necessary and appropriate knowledge/skills to keep the student challenged.

You will learn to improve your technique, practice efficiently, memorize the music with confidence, prepare for concerts and exams in a motivating and entertaining atmosphere :D I am also happy to teach music theory and ear training in German, especially in preparation for entrance exams to German-speaking music universities. As a graduate of the HMTM Hannover and the Mozarteum University Salzburg, I have specialized in historical keyboard instruments and am equally familiar with music from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras. In addition to my work as a lecturer at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), I also coach piano students who attend music high schools and/or students that are preparing for entrance exams at music universities.

Composition is hard to define and is by no means limited to one particular style or genre. Our meetings would provide a framework and the context for you to delve deeper into your chosen ideas and creations. As well as composition, I am able to assist you with music theory, ear training, piano and general musicianship. I plan my lessons individually and orientate myself towards your goals. Whether you want to create a Bach fugue or a new single for your EDM album, I would be there to support your stylistic decisions.

I'm Ed, an English musician studying a Master's course in composition here in Vienna. I've been teaching piano and guitar for two years now, having played both for over 14 years! I completed my Bachelor's degree in music (2022) in Liverpool, UK, and received the highest grade: first class honours. I love music and have a great passion to pass on my knowledge and enthusiasm to as many people as I can! I have two years experience of teaching both children and adults in different styles: coaching some students to passing classical piano exams, while teaching others simply how to play their favourite pop songs as well as working on general technique. I have even been helping some students write their own songs, since this is actually my main strength as a musician and one of the things I find most fulfilling about music. Above all, the most important thing for me is encouraging and nurturing the love of music in my students. I want to pass on knowledge and help develop skills that my students can carry with them for their entire lives and regularly use as a source of enjoyment and fulfilment. I studied instrumental pedagogy piano at the University of Performing Arts Vienna Bachelor and can now pass my knowledge on to you! My goal is to ignite a lasting, ideally lifelong (!) enthusiasm for the piano as an instrument and to acquire its repertoire and a good technique as playfully as possible! This course is aimed at anyone who is considering starting to play the piano or starting where they may have stopped years ago or simply looking for advice and listeners. I offer fresh access to teaching, where basic principles and ideas of playing the piano are adapted to the skills and any previous knowledge. But since the music is never just in the notes and keys, I also attach particular importance to a simple and creative introduction to the classical music language and the theory associated with it.
