Trusted teacher: Hello I'm a professional bass player living in Amsterdam. I have a passion for teaching and passing on some of the knowledge that I have acquired during my studies at several schools and heard from the musicians I look up to. I've done my bachelor degree at The Royal Academy of Music in Denmark, and I finished my Masters at Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2024. I teach double bass, electric bass and composition. Musically I try to be as open as I can. For me it doesn't matter if it's free jazz, traditional jazz, pop or metal as long as it feels good. I'm a leader of my own group where we combine jazz and indie rock. we will release our debut album this fall. I'm also a sideman in several groups. As for composition I have experience with composing for regular jazz groups, big band, string quartet and irregular constellations such as my band with three guitars and three horns. Some thoughts about teaching: I believe that the most important thing when teaching is having a good relation to one another and generally just having a good time. If we don't enjoy the process we don't learn. You should feel comfortable saying how you feel and what you want to learn/don't want to learn. With that transparency I will be able to customize the teaching and balance the curriculum so that I meet your needs while pushing you into unknown territory. I have been a musician for as long as I can remember. I started when I was a kid as a trumpet player. I played in many different kinds of orchestras and had a lot of fun with this instrument, but it was nothing compare to my love for singing! This is why I decided to become a professional opera singer and I want to share my passion about singing! What do I offer? Classical singing lessons for all levels with a focus on opera, songs, oratorio and choir repertoire. I am based in Utrecht. You are welcome to come to my place, but I can also come to the students. Lessons can be taught in English or in French, but I also speak a little bit of Dutch. What will you learn? The fundamental elements of classical singing such as breathing, posture and resonances for example but also styles, pronunciation, interpretation and repertoire. An important aspect I want to approach in a singing lesson is how to help you find your own voice, both in a technical and in an interpretative sense. I can also guide you with anything solfège related like how to use and read a score or how to learn a song by heart. What is my philosophy about singing and pedagogy? We are expats that moved to the Netherlands a couple of years ago. Our kids were 6 and 9 when we got in touch with Hetty at the beginning of this year. Hetty worked amazingly at their level and using their interests to build up their confidence in speaking Dutch. I have seen a tremendous improvement in their Dutch within 4-5 months. I would happily recommend Hetty to students with even just a basic knowledge of the language. Had we not moved cities, I would’ve used her services to improve my own language ability!

I have had 5 very helpful lessons with a relaxed atmosphere so far. Federica has directly spotted my weaknesses and has helped me to make my practice time more effective and goal-oriented instead of simply playing what I had learned at some point. I have definitely become more aware of things that I can improve and learned how to make progress more quickly. So far, we have combined different exercises on technique with music theory and also worked on my repertoire a little bit.

Anh really knows what he’s doing, not only he is expert in math, but as well excellent in his teaching technique. My son told me that he understood better and much easier with the technique taught by Anh. My son is junior school level, but wanting to learn bit advanced math compared to the topics he’s learning at school. He’s looking forward to having more learning with Anh and we booked immediately for 10 lessons.
