Electric Guitar lessons with a focus on virtuoso techniques

I am offering tailor-made Guitar lessons for players who are interested in developing their technical skills on the instrument.

These technical skills include:

- Sweep picking
- Speed picking (alternate, economy, hybrid, tremolo etc)
- Tapping
- Legato (in a variety of styles such as from Allan Holdsworth / Rick Graham / John Petrucci / Richie Kotzen)
- Vibrato / Bending (accurately)
- Rhythm playing

I can also teach you some fundamentals in music theory if relevant to the course material

As this is not my main line of work, I am looking for dedicated students only(!). I expect my students to want to develop and do their assignments.

My name is Robert and I've been playing guitar for over 24 years now. I've been playing live and recording for an equally long amount of time.

Feel free to look at my videos showcasing my skillset to determine if I am the right fit for you as a teacher.

My goal is to make lessons relevant to the students, understand what their goals are and provide everything I've learned to help them achieve these goals. With that said, I do also expect my students to practice the concepts I go through with them. Misunderstandings or other things are no problem and I'm happy to clarify everything but I do want students to put the work in that's necessary because I believe that this is the only way to develop.

Education

I have no formal musical education but 24 years of playing and recording experience that allowed me to develop virtuosity as well as a clean and controlled playing style which I take a lot of pride in. Guitar is not a hard instrument to learn, and does not require years of experience. The key is in learning and practicing usefull exercises, and basic body and finder positions. My classes will consist of such basic steps, followed by songs that the student chooses to learn.

Eh?! What?!! Let's stop the blabla... Guitar is killing! Everyone loves it (that's probably why you're here) and I'm guessing you're like "How can I learn some of this crazy guitar stuff without selling one of my kidneys to some creepy guy on Youtube".

Well... I'm not offering you the rock 'n' roll lifestyle, sprinkled with angel dust and full of groupies languidly waiting for you backstage, but I can at least offer you an organized guitar lesson based on a comprehensive approach to the instrument, targeted to your musical aspirations... In other words: what YOU like! I sincerely believe that the most effective way to learn music is to delve into what you love and explore it with passion and dedication. We will always start from the songs you like, step by step, following your workflow. My goal is simply to give you the best tips and tricks so that you can enjoy playing the songs you love or, if you wish, organize your guitar practice in the most efficient way.

MOST IMPORTANT: I love to jam so be prepare to play some music :-).

Together we will tackle various topics, we can also focus on:
- Learn a song and be able to do it by yourself later.

Sign up for a band playing lesson as an individual instrumentalist, and you will be paired with other like-minded musicians to form a band. I will pair musicians of similar levels and who share similar musical interests together.
We will meet once or regularly based on the students availability, and will go over the basics of what it means to play in a group, put a repertoire of music together, and take your musicianship to the next level. Too often when learning an instrument, we fail to do what is ultimately the end goal of these long hours spent practicing : making music with others. This is also a great opportunity to meet fellow musicians and share your passion with others.

PS : at least one to two years of experience on your instrument is recommended to sign up for band playing lessons.

Hello, my name is Marlou. I was nine years old when I first held a guitar. It was love at first sight. I always have my guitar with me. I've been teaching for ten years, and after a year of lessons, one of my students uttered the unforgettable line: "My guitar is my soulmate." With a guitar, you have a friend for life. I want everyone to experience that.
Everyone learns differently. Some people want to learn notes and visualize sheet music, while others play by ear. Some want to hear a song first and sing it without a guitar, while others want to play along right away. It's all possible. In your first lesson, you can tell me what you want to learn, and I tailor my lessons accordingly.
After each lesson, I'll give you exercises to practice at home. The more you practice at home, the faster we'll progress. If you'd like, you can record the lesson so you can listen to it again at home and practice along with it.
I'll teach you all the basic chords. I'll pay close attention to your guitar posture and the way you place your hands and fingers on the guitar. The better you master the basic chords, the easier it will be to learn new and more complex things later. I can also teach you how to strum the guitar. And if you're interested, I can teach you how to read music.

If you'd like to learn to sing while you perform, I can teach you simple tricks to make singing easier. I'm not a singing teacher, but thanks to my initial training in speech therapy, CVT (Complete Vocal Training) singing lessons, and my stage experience as a singer, I have extensive knowledge of learning proper breathing and training your breath support. I can also teach you how to overcome your shyness, if that's your problem. Playing and singing at the same time will then become a lot of fun.
