Let's start by declensions and so on. We'll discover the verbal tenses and how is a phrase done. You don't know the slight aspects unless have studied how Ancient Greek's verbs work, or the Ancient Indian. So, if we can translate texts (at first easier ones, the the original), we could reach anywhere in the vast world around the Roman Empire. Latin is the basis for the Romance languages. And Greek is more usual between us than you could imagine (Medicine, over all). You could structure your mind as the ancient did! They are the "little box" where you can put in whatever you want. You will learn Latin the way it was meant to be learned - through conversation! Medieval scholars and contemporary language researchers alike advocate the use of dialogues and comprehensible input for language acquisition, and it most certainly works! As opposed to the "memorise grammar rules and then babble them in front of the class" approach that was demonstrated by the infamous "Romanēs eunt domus" scene from Monty Python's "The Life of Brian", you will learn to feel the grammar, so that you will be able to use the different cases of Latin without even thinking about it, just like a native speaker! Latin is an important language even though it is a dead language! Do not forget it! :) In second, Latin is an optional course. It can be chosen as a specialty course from the 1ère générale and be continued or not in the terminale. During the lessons, we will work to develop in your child reading skills allowing him to find his way in a Latin text and to understand its meaning globally without having to resort to translation. I will facilitate the acquisition of these skills with reading-comprehension, close to the approach of analytical reading in French.
