I give private lessons in Zwolle to students of all levels. Mainly piano lessons, but also chamber music and music theory. Students of all levels are welcome. The classes can be in English, Spanish or Dutch. The duration and frequency of lessons is flexible, depending on the age and preferences of the student. Normally for adults or teenagers the lessons are one hour long and for younger children a bit shorter, but it depends on the individual. My background is a bachelor's degree in theoretical physics, and I currently teach high school. My tutoring focuses on students from ninth grade through high school. Are you interested in the Chinese language and culture? Do you want to learn to speak, listen, read and write Chinese at your own pace? Then the Chinese course is really something for you! The Basic Chinese Course consists of a book and a website with audio material. 24 lessons cover the practical language skills you need to, for example, order food in a restaurant or find your way. The emphasis is on speaking, understanding and reading the characters. Pinyin is used, but writing characters yourself is also discussed. The learning material is presented in texts and dialogues, in example sentences with short explanations, in photos and in many exercises. I also use online audio, overviews of pronunciation, the language functions discussed and grammar, as well as Dutch-Chinese and Chinese-Dutch word lists. After the basic program you can talk about yourself and your work/organization/family, you can arrange your hotel affairs in China, place orders in shops and restaurants and even negotiate the price. You can also schedule appointments, arrange your transportation and ask for directions. With all these subjects you not only learn the language, but you also gain insight into the cultural aspects. After completing the course, you will have mastered the basic knowledge of Mandarin. This allows you to go anywhere in China.

Korean seems difficult, but once you understand the principles, it's not that hard. When I taught Korean to Dutch people in the Netherlands, I put a lot of effort into teaching lessons that were both comfortable and appropriately challenging for Dutch students. My lessons are easy, but you have to pay attention; you learn relatively quickly, but you have to put in a lot of effort to study many different aspects of the language. One of my greatest strengths is that I make sure that students learn Korean without stress. The teacher always supports the student, and the student can ask questions about things he or she doesn’t understand without shame. Creating a comfortable learning environment has a great impact on the learning results, and that is my philosophy. Even students with reading difficulties in Dutch learn Korean well. Everyone can build a lot of self-confidence by getting enough support and love through learning Korean.

And in lessons too! I like to think I have a good sense of humor, so laughter is guaranteed during lessons too. - PERSONALIZATION Teaching is not “one size fits all”.
