About Me

I am an English teacher with over seven years experience teaching English in China, Thailand and Cambodia, from kindergarten – high school level including teacher training. I have had a lot of fun meeting the challenge of teaching English to various levels, cultures and learning styles.
In my time developing my skills as an ESOL /EFL instructor, I have discovered the importance of developing lesson plans that are specific to needs of every given group of learners, that take into account, not just aptitude but also potential. Every student has their own learning style and I enjoy the challenge of finding the right mix of approaches to meet their learning needs. Through a mix of TEFL methodology, model-based, illustrative, active based, suitably paced activities along with group /pair /individual exercises, I have build up a library of materials and activities that I believe can be very beneficial in supplementing the content of any curriculum. I have worked hard to ensure that my delivery of the lesson encourages positive attitudes to learning and improves overall student engagement and participation in the learning process. It is my goal to guide students along an effective and smooth route to acquiring better language attainment ability.
I have had great success with both kindergarten and primary level students, who really appreciate a fun and dynamic lesson that can hold their attention, from day to day. Although higher levels require a more measured pace and a learning environment that accommodates greater focus on building and retaining a greater flow of vocabulary and grammar points, there is a need for some activities and games to help reinforce what has been learned and I enjoy designing new methods of approach that strike a balance between fun and focused learning in that respect. All in all, I have developed an appreciation for the differences between students of various backgrounds and cultural influences, and would like to continue incorporating these differences into new methods to improving and developing my role in the education field.
