Welcome to my guitar courses! I graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with a bachelor's degree in jazz guitar and am currently pursuing a master's degree, which I expect to complete in 2026. Starting in 2025, I will also be studying IGP (instrumental and vocal pedagogy) in jazz guitar at the KUG. With over 9 years of teaching experience – from my beginnings in Athens, Greece, to my current residence in Graz, Austria – I have worked with students of all ages and experience levels. Every student is unique – therefore, lessons are individually tailored to your musical interests and goals. What we can work on together in class: 1.Guitar & fretboard knowledge Learn to truly understand your instrument – this will not only help you learn your favorite songs, but also help you make music creatively. 2.Song accompaniment Develop your skills as a rhythm guitarist: chords, strumming and fingerstyle techniques, rhythmic patterns in different styles. 3. Improvisation Especially essential in jazz – together we work on the necessary tools such as arpeggios, triads, theoretical basics and phrasing. 4.Rhythm training Improve your sense of time and develop a solid rhythmic foundation – essential for any musical style. 5.Harmony, modern music theory & composition Dive deeper into the structure of music and learn how to write your own pieces. 6. Playing technique We work specifically on your technique – e.g. alternate picking, sweep picking, hybrid picking, legato, etc. 7.Repertoire Learn songs and solos in your favorite style – whether rock, jazz, pop, funk, metal or more. My name is Janka and I study flute at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. I offer flute lessons for beginners and advanced players of all ages, whether performance-oriented or relaxed. I always base my lessons on the development, needs and wishes of my students, because the individuality of my students is particularly important to me. Briefly to me: My musical career began in elementary school, later followed by the music secondary school in Weiz and then the music high school in Graz. At the age of 6 I learned to play the recorder, until I switched to the saxophone at the age of 8. After studying at the music school in Gleisdorf, I went to the Graz Conservatory and after graduating from the music high school, I studied at the University of Music & Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), where I did vocal and instrumental pedagogy (IGP) at the Institute for Popular Music with a focus Studied classical sax. I took my own instrumental lessons from Richard Winkler, Wolfgang Puschnig, Martin Fuss, Klaus Dickbauer and Fabian Rucker, among others. There are also countless workshops with e.g. Branford Masalis, Randy Brecker, Torsten Skringer etc. In my career, instruments such as piano, clarinet and flute were added. I'm a professional musician myself and play in bands such as "Candlelight Ficus", "Die Ranzler", "Moneka Group" and "Matho & Das Vienna Dancehall Orchestra", as well as jobs with big bands, DJ's and much more. Hi! My name is Anže. I am 24 years old and I come from Slovenia. At the moment I am doing my Bachelor in Jazz saxophone at KUG. Do you want to learn how to play saxophone or clarinet? You love your violin or viola and know that your path is different from the traditional one. Your soul tries to express itself through your own art, so you want to deal with technology and theory. I am a Spanish pianist and composer (MMus graduate from Codarts Rotterdam in both directions) with many years of teaching experience, and also very active in performing in various contexts. I give private piano lessons for all levels and styles (classical, jazz, Latin, new age, pop...), as well as music theory, composition and improvisation lessons. My lessons are distinguished by their dynamics, practical approach and adaptation to the needs and interests of the student. The lessons (live or online) take place in my studio next to the Maastunnel, where I have a premium stage piano and a top-quality webcam setup. I speak Dutch at an intermediate level, which is improving every day.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard. My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student. Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you. A bit about me: Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.

Would you classify improvisation as composition or performance? Well actually it is both! When you improvise you are composing music on the spot, performing what you have made up at the same time as you have composed it. For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease. The key to success is understanding chords. Once you know how chords are formed and know what notes make up a few chords you will be well on your way towards being able to improvise. We will, therefore, start by ensuring a firm knowledge of certain chords. After this we will progress to improvising a simple melody over the top of these chords. The next stage is to start using notes that are not in the chord. The process is then open ended with emphasis on developing the melody. If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session. Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.

Turkish reed flute is an essential instrument of Turkish Classcial Music. It has a deep and dense culture dating from 13. century around. If you want to learn about how to perform it you first need a teacher educated by masters on this field. As of many teachers you can find online but you make sure that not every tutor meets with traditional style. Solfege and method are inseperable parts of the lessons. So for beginners and intermediate students must follow a compotent tutor to learn about the way of classic form.

I teach from international method books and adjust my methods to the individual needs of each student. Taking two courses of the Alexander technique also helped me to develop an understanding of the essential connection between the body and our minds. This awareness can be very helpful not only for our musical performances, but also for our everyday lives.
