MY EXPERIENCE As a native French speaker, I know the beauty and poetry of the language inside and out, and I’m excited to share it with anyone curious to dive in. Since high school, I’ve offered private tutoring to students aged 10 to 17, helping them with everything from grammar worksheets and book reviews to philosophy essays and creative writing assignments. As for English, I was raised in an international school environment where English was a core part of my education from childhood through high school. I earned my TOEFL certificate before beginning my current bachelor’s studies, which are entirely in English. I've also taught English with a focus on pronunciation, grammar, syntax, and practical communication skills. TUTORING SET-UP When tutoring, I place strong emphasis on tracking progress, often by assigning homework (if agreed upon) and creating clear, structured plans to help students stay on track. I’m always flexible and happy to adapt to each learner’s feedback and preferences to make lessons as enjoyable and engaging as possible. I offer lessons online or in person—either at my place or yours. Thanks to my bilingual upbringing (with a German mother) and my French-German high school diploma (AbiBac), I can also provide instruction in German if needed. Trusted teacher: It is never too late to start or resume learning piano! My teaching experience makes me a witness to this. Perhaps you came looking for piano lessons because you wish to be able to play some particular pieces, or to develop specific skills. Or maybe you don't know what your goal is yet, but are fond of the sound of the piano and want to dive into this wonderful instrument. Whatever the case, I am looking forward to hearing from you and discussing your next step! I try as much as possible to tailor the work with each individual student aiming at the goals set and the student's musical tastes. This becomes more the case the higher the student's level of experience. Nevertheless, beginners are also encouraged to suggest music for themselves to learn. The work on pieces is combined with other important activities designed to develop finger dexterity, hand coordination, rhythmic sense, music reading, playing by ear, etc. The Cortot, Hanon and scale exercises are some of my frequent choices for the technical work. For young beginners, I defend a no-book approach during the first 2 or 3 months, for three main reasons: it makes learning more fun, it unlocks our creative potential and it allows us to explore the instrument rather confidently and freely. Instead of learning how to read right from the start, students have the opportunity to play games, listen to music, sing, compose, and improvise over backing tracks, developing the core skills necessary for any musical activity later on. After this period, it is then time to introduce them to a method book. The one I recommend the most is Piano Safari. For teenage and adult beginners, the activities described above are selected and adjusted, and theory concepts may be introduced at an earlier stage. If desired, graded level series such as the RSL Classical or Contemporary Piano, among others, may be opted for. 103€English Standard & Higher Level for International Baccalaureate + English Reading, Writing, Speaking for All Levels
Trusted teacher: English SL and Higher Level for the International Baccalaureate is a rigorous course, especially for ESL students. I completed the IB with HL English and received a 7 (highest mark) in my final exam. I will be able to go over both Standard Level and Higher Level syllabuses for the course specific to the material covered in your school, and prepare you for mock and final exams. I will include essay writing skills, literary criticism and analysis, as well as vocabulary expansion techniques in my teaching. A brief overview of the key features of English SL/HL as set by the International Baccalaureate Organisation: • Higher level study requires a minimum of 240 class hours, while standard level study requires a minimum of 150 class hours • Students study 13 works at higher level and 9 works at standard level from a representative selection of literary forms, periods and places • Students develop the ability to engage in close, detailed analysis of literary works, building understanding of the techniques involved in literary criticism • The study of literary works in context is emphasised, and through the study of literature in translation the student is challenged to reflect on the role of cultural assumptions in interpretation • Students are assessed through a combination of formal examination and oral and written coursework. • The formal examination comprises two essay papers, one requiring the analysis of a passage of unseen literary text, and the other comparative response to a question based on two works studied • Students also perform an oral activity presenting their analysis of two works studied • HL students comply with an additional written coursework requirement which consists of writing a 1200 - 1500 word essay on one of the works studied
