About Me

I'm a Master's student and research intern in the robotics labs at EPFL writing my thesis on bio-inspired flying robots. Having attended an international high school in my native Costa Rica and completed my bachelor's degree in Manchester, UK I have interacted with students from a wide range of educational systems, and can adapt my teaching to the needs of individual students.

I believe maths and physics should be taught with practical applications in mind. Students should never find themselves wondering "what's the point of learning this?" or "where do all these equations even come from?". I use examples based on interesting real-life problems - mostly from the realm of mechanical/aerospace engineering- and try to connect different topics to keep students motivated and interested.

Currently writing my Master's thesis, I plan to continue my studies in educational science and didactics, and I am particularly interested in pedagogy and the transmission of knowledge!

My primary aim is to motivate through concrete examples and to encourage reformulation in one's own words in order to facilitate the appropriation of concepts that may seem abstract at first glance.

Depending on the subject, I also share various general study strategies that I have acquired during my years of study, with the aim of encouraging autonomy in studies.

With the idea of autonomy in mind, I try to find and offer different resources (books, handouts, videos, etc.) to develop intuition and present the material in different ways.
