Now I’m experienced enough to teach myself teaching and learning from
Enthousiastic musical people. I have a passion and am happy to welcome you and spend time devoted to music!

I am eager to pass the knowledge on to people who want to learn about playing guitar, from
Folk to jazz. I learn you about chords, jazz harmony. We look for songs to work on. I can give you homework, small achievements create big improvements!

Bachelor degree in Jazz studies (guitar) at LucaSchoolOfArts
Began a second bachelor (double bass) in KASK
Went to jazz stages in dworp and wépion
attended many masterclasses and lessons from many great players
enjoyed lessons from great belgian jazz educators.

stage experience (playing with PA) , jamming host for all levels, open to different styles. Can teach music without students having to read. Wrote own songs for different instruments.

I am a singer-bassist from Mali with international experience with Rokia Traoré, Ben Zabo and Afrikän Protoköl. I mainly play African music (Desert blues, Afro-beat, Mandingue, the Congolese Seben, etc.) but also other genres such as blues, funk, pop and free-jazz.

In my lessons you develop your musical ear and you learn to play by feeling. No scores, no theory. We fully focus on the practice and the pleasure of making music.

Als klassieke gitarist kan ik veel genres aan, alleen in de jazz heb ik geen ervaring. Voor praktisch al de rest kan je bij mij terecht. Ik ben geen professional, daarom kan je als vergevorderde gitarist misschien beter bij iemand anders terecht. Ik kan je ook leren noten lezen en de basis muziektheorie aanleren indien je dat wenst.

English:

As a classical guitarist, I can play many genres, only in jazz, I don't have any experience. For anything else, you can come to me. I am not a professional, therefore if you are already quite experienced in the guitar I think another teacher might be better suited. I can also teach you how to read music and touch upon basic music theory if you want.

I am Jess, a musician and producer from Ghent, graduated as a bachelor in music at PXL Hasselt. In the meantime I have been teaching guitar for 10 years at music studios and in the form of private lessons at home. Besides teaching I have my own project called Monagi and I write/produce for bands like Tout Va Bien and Patches. I also play guitar at TheShadow Machine. All my lessons take place in a relaxed atmosphere in my music studio in Ghent at your own pace.

For beginners: During our guitar lesson you can bring your own songs that you want to work on or together we will see what the best songs are for you and what you can learn the most from. This ranges from the basic chords that make up most pop / rock songs to playing along with the melody or accompanying yourself while singing. So you can play what you always dreamed of in no time!

For advanced users: Together we look at what you want to work on in terms of rhythm, soloing or improvisation. Which styles you are familiar with or which you would like to learn to play. These lessons are ideal for you if you want to broaden your knowledge of the guitar or if it feels like you've reached a plateau you can't get past.
